Where to Have Wedding Dress Preserved?

I am getting the nursery ready for my new baby and realized that I still have my wedding dress hanging in her closet. I need to get it out of there so I need to find somewhere to get it boxed and preserved. I know it can be kind of pricey too. Can anyone recommend a place to get it done and a ballpark price on what I can expect to pay? I have heard some places have you mail it in to them; I would rather not do that and prefer to take it someplace locally. Thanks!

What can I do next?

I am so glad you asked this question. Now I don't feel so bad! I am in the same situation you are in. I got married almost 7 years ago and I realized I have not done that. I have taken mine to a cleaners and they priced me for over 350! He said it would start at $350. I have looked online at several places and been prced from 150-700! I just took my down comforter (as a test) to comet cleaners. If it turns out good, I am going to take my dress there. I can let you know how it turns out if you want. I have been having problem after problem with this. For example, I walk in somewhere and it feels dirty then I don't trust them. Another problem is that I find there are only certain people in the cleaners that can give an estimate. I am told they are there all the time, but it turns out they are not there very often. All I can say to you right now is good luck. I will let you know how mine turns out if you want (if I can catch someone at work!!)

I had mine done 5 years ago at Legacy Cleaners in Plano at Independence and Legacy (Kroger Shopping Center). I paid $151.55 and it was done in 2 1/2 weeks.

If you have a trusted dry cleaner ask them for a referral. I took mine to Comet Cleaners in Richardson (190 & Jupiter). He sends it out to get it preserved. I was quite happy with it. The only issue he has with the place is that they aren't really good with estimating how long it takes (it usually takes longer than what they say). I didn't really care, so that wasn't a worry to me. I think it cost me around $180. That was 2 years ago. A friend of mine had hers done there last November. I don't think the cost went up much at all.

I know for sure David's Bridal preserves them. Good Luck and I hope this helps.
