I am a single mother of two children. I am somewhat new to the city area, and am wanting to get more involved. I am looking for different ways to be able to do so. Any advice?

What can I do next?

If you are not involved in a church yet. Check out www.fellowshipchurch.com it is awesome and a great way to meet a lot of people. I am sure they have a single parents group. The main campus is in Grapevine but we have a campus at Plano, Uptown Dallas and Ft.Worth.

A great way to get involved and meet other moms....is to join a Moms group or a MOPS (mothers of preschoolers) at a local church. I see that you live in Grapevine....there's a great church in Irving called Irving Bible Church and they offer a MOPS group...

http://www.irvingbible.org/index.php?id=463

MOPS groups are designed to be open to every mother in the community -- not necessarily members, nor Christians. It's just a fun way to get to know other moms in your area...to share the joys, frustrations, struggles and successes. I attend a MOMS Connection group (which starts tomorrow morning) at my church -- Chase Oaks Church in Plano. You are more than welcome to come to this...but I realize that's a little farther for you to drive. I've met many great friens through MOMS and love going every year! I have a 4 yr old son. [PM me if you'd like more info about our MOMs Connection group. www.chaseoaks.org]

Also, are your kids in preschool yet or a Mother's Day Out program? You can suggest/ask the teacher if you can include a flyer into each child's backpack, asking the moms if they'd like to get together for a playdate at a nearby park right after school one day or a Saturday - you pick a day that gives them enough notice. just a thought. It's great way to meet the little ones that your kids play with at school.

Or sign your kid's up for a recreation class for their age level...the city usually offers classes for good rates -- karate, t-ball, soccer, music, gymboree, indoor swim classes, etc etc. Or just go to local The Little Gym centers, or Gymborre sites to sign up.

Check out www.meetup.com. They have groups for pretty much anything you want. Just put in your location and the site tells you of groups - single parents, special interest groups, moms groups, just about anything. Good luck!

Hi there,
I have never been married but I am a young 21 year old single mom. I am too seeking a friend. Its very hard to make friends when your a single parent.

All my friends from college pretty much moved on with there lives. I am wanting a friend someone I can relate with who knows the struggles and challgenges that single moms face in this world.

I want someone who i can take the kids out for play dates together, someone i can laugh and share stories with.
Someone who will be like my best friend.

If you want a friend or need a friend you can email me and I will send you my personal email.

I have a 2yr old little girl and she is the most amazing thing that has ever happend to me.

I hope you are having a great week!
