If you are asking, it means that you are concerned, so yes, return them.
Tribune tests found elevated levels of lead in bags at Publix and Winn-Dixie. Following the Tribune reports, Winn-Dixie stopped selling any of their reusable bags, and pulled existing bags from the shelf as a precaution. (Other reusable bags such as hot/cold pack bags are still on sale.)
Publix officials say their bags comply with current federal laws, but are happy to offer refunds to customers with concerns.
If you are asking, it means that you are concerned, so yes, return them.
get the refund. Not worth the risk if your oranges and avocados (which we don't often wash before cutting/eating) get lead on them.
Are you planning on eating them? If not, they're fine. Lead is dangerous when it's eaten and unless you're actually eating the bag, you aren't in any danger. (and remember most of your food is coming home bagged in it's own bag too, it's not like fibers will rub off all over the place...)
Are you asking whether you should return them, or are you just giving the information? I think I would probably return them if I had other reusable bags that I knew I wouldn't have to worry about.
That is really scary to have to worry about. Things they say to go green...and end up being more issues to humans than anything.
I'd return them because as lead breaks down it creates dust and that can be toxic for young children also. You bring the groceries to the kitchen, on the floor or on the counter... Once the dust gets on dishes, appliances on the counters, floor, nearby toys, hands/fibgers... and you/kids then touch that... Breathe in the dust; fingers in mouth... Bingo!
Yes return them. I know I would if I had any of them.
