Hi. I'm looking for jewlery on ebay and was wondering how can I filter things that have been posted within the past week?
Jewelry was stolen from my home less than a week ago and I want to look at the most recent posts rather than 21 pages of bracelets.

Also, in searching pawn shops would you "pretend" to be shopping for your items or give them a list of items that were stolen and hope that they would call me and police if anything comes in.
Thanks again for all of your help.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

I have been specific on ebay esp about a bracelet still have many pages. Does ebay do postings by date like craigs list does? I tried going thru customer service of ebay but ccouldn't get a phone # or live person. The chat wasn't working.

Under the "sort by" there's a "newly listed" sort option.

What does the police dept. suggest as far as the pawn shops?

You can sort by distance, recently listed, etc on Ebay. I am guessing if you went into a Pawn shop and gave them a list of items that were stolen, they would check recent items brought in b/c they don't want any part of stolen goods (at least I would hope not).

Good luck and I hope they get the jerks!

Well that depends. I would probably give a list of the stolen items to pawn shops in your area of about 50 mile radius. If you have extra pictures that may help if some should come in. Also the police would like to have a list if you have one for their report.

I think on eBay there is a way to filter for list date. You may have to go to eBay and go through their question files for answers.

I am sorry you lost items and hope that you do get them back.

choose - buy locally. They will only show you what is available in your area.

Log on to eBay. Type in your search words. Once the results appear at the top right the 'Sort by:' drop-down box will usually have defaulted to 'Best Match'. You can change that to 'Time:Newly Listed' and then you only have to search back as long as the jewelry has been missing. Someone did mention Craig's List but also watch the For Sale ads in the newspaper. I am very sorry to hear about your stolen jewelry and hope you have luck getting it returned.

my friend had this happen also and lost her engagement ring. she worked w/the pawn shops, gave them descriptions, etc. once it was brought in, they bought it and she had to repurchase it from the shop to get it back...but then they had the guy who stole it. her homeowners co refunded her the money she used to buy it

Try your local craigslist posts. There is software you can get for the purpose. I lost my camera with 3500 pics from my family NYC Christmas vacay, my daughter's first snow ( we live in fl) I was able to locate it, unfortunately the memory card was deleted.

get specific on your listings on ebay ex you are searching for a bracelet gold or silver? what is on it ex hearts. is it streach?do you know the brand ex avon. this is what ebay filters. ex I sell shoes on ebay when I list to get more hits i put boys dress size 8 black leather oshkosh it hits everything everyone types in to a search engine. some will type boys 8 shoes or someone else will type boys dress shoes etc. this will take you from 21 pages to about 4. make a police report they will contact pawn shops

My old house was broken into twice (then I couldn't take it anymore and put it up for sale within a month) so I know how it feels to be robbed. I had alot of jewelry taken, mainly semi-precious stones set in sterling. Cops do NOTHING except say 'we'll keep an eye out for your stuff'... yeah, right. I didn't bother looking for my stuff, I was mad and scared and I wasn't in the safest neighborhood. If you have a detailed list (and maybe pics) of what was taken, along with the police report, you can check pawn shops. You could even have extra copies and leave them at the shops so they can keep an eye out if anything that looks like your stuff comes in. Usually the thieves are looking for something they can sell quick. Although you can look on eBay, I doubt they would go through the hassle of listing. If you go into pawn shops, don't pretend, go in, tell them what happened and show your documents first. My guess is that they get people in looking for stolen stuff alot.

Do you have any photos of your stolen jewelry?

YES... report it to the Police... AND the pawn shops.

When your jewelry was stolen... didn't you call the Police and they come to your home and dust for fingerprints etc.? There must have been some "proof" that your home was broken into????
That happened to me once... and I called the police right away.. .and they investigated and checked the premises for any evidence/fingerprints etc.
Our jewelry was never found though...

You should also check Craig's lists too.
