Needing Help Finding Shoes

My 12 month old son has really thick feet (wide and thick instep). I have trouble finding shoes for him that aren't tight and hard to get on. I should add he is walking well too. I was wondering if anyone might have experienced this and have any suggestions.

What can I do next?

I know Stride Rite is a great place for wide, xtra wide kids feet, they do a good job fitting the feet for the right size/width. (both of my boys have had the same problem) They are more expensive though, so if you don't want to spend the extra there, get his feet sized properly there then you can go to Shoe Department or some other regular shoe stores, and look for New Balances, usually no more than $30 in the right size and wide widths. You can find them online in extra wide also. I always bought New Balance for both of my boys.

My daughter has hard to fit feet also. For nice shoes I like Stride Rite (they size her and have wides and extra wides). But mostly she wore ONLY Crocs for a year. Crocs are great!

My son used to have feet like that too. About the only place that I found shoes to fit him was at Stride Rite. They carry up to extra wide shoes. They are a little pricey, but you can really screw up their feet if the shoes don't fit properly. Hopefully in time his feet will slim down like my son's did. I can now buy the regular width shoes for him. Best of luck!

My son had big feet also. We had to go to Stride Rite to get his shoes when he was little. They are more expensive, but they have thinned out now that he is older (he is 6 now).

I like Stride Rite too. Here are some things I do to cut down on the cost. I take both my kids in to have their feet measured, I look over the shoes to see what I/they like, then I go home and look for those styles/sizes on Amazon. At least half the time I am able to find the shoes I need at a much cheaper price. If I don't find them there, I either run back to the mall by myself or I just order them from their online store. I have also signed up to be on Stride Rite's mailing list. A few times a year they send out coupons.

I have also had lots of luck with Stride Rite at Penn Square mall. I know that Dillards also sells their product line. Good luck!

Daniel's Shoes in NW OKC, off MacArthur & NW Expressway. They specialize in hard to find sizes and can special order shoes from the manufacturer if needed. HTH!

My 3 year old son's feet are very wide and thick. We went to Stride Rite from the very beginning. They have a great variety for walkers to runners like mine. They are a little on the expensive side, but were well worth it!

Stride Rite sells wides and extra-wides in their shoes. My nephew has very thick/wide feet and that is where we were ablet to find a wide selection of choices.

My son will be 1 next week. He has the same problem. I bought his last pair of shoes at Brown's Shoe Fit in Norman. They have shoes in a variety of sizes and widths for toddlers. They will also measure your child's shoe to find out the exact size and width.
Good luck!

My son and daughter have had the same kind of feet, wide and thick. Stride Rite has been the best solution for me. They are a bit expensive but they are well made which means they don't wear out like other shoes plus they are better for foot development. They come in a good range of widths and all of their shoes seem to be made with a wide opening for thick feet. Hope this helps!
