My baby (6 months) rolls around all over her crib and almost every morning she wakes up screaming and I come into her room to find she got her leg stuck between the slats and it's getting tougher and tougher to get her leg unstuck now! This morning it scared me pretty bad and I had to turn her leg pretty hard to get her out.
Any suggestions to stop this???
I had put this in the "what happened" section - but to add it here, we've had to leave the crib bumper off b/c she would put her head under it or she would smash her face into it! So, we're going to try that mesh bumper and see how this goes today. Thanks for all your great advice!

I have an older child that had the same problem. I started putting in a playpen to sleep (nothing to get legs or arms stuck in). This did cause on other problem getting my baby girl out was hard sometimes but no more screaming.

A. have you tried putting crib bumpers in her bed and possible she can't get her luck that high and get it stuck in between the bars.
Hi A.! We had the same problem with our 2 kids and found the CribShield System. It's mesh siding that velcros to itslelf over the crib rails. It comes in 4 pieces so if you have a drop rail on your crib, it will still function properly. It's wonderful! You can get it through the nextag website or just Google search it and you'll find lots of places that carry it. We actually got ours on Ebay. It gave us peace of mind right away! Good luck!
Have you ever put her in a wearable blanket? My son is 15 monts old and still uses one! It is a DREAM! They even make them for 'big kids' (2-3 years old).... they sell some in Babies R Us; but here's the link if you're interested. It zips from the top to the bottom, so no worries on her getting it undone; and it's very cozy and warm! We buy the Deluxe Velboa for winter, and cotton for summer. He wears a Large at 15 months and still has plenty of room to grow. When he was 6 months, we used a medium!

Are you using a crib bumper? If not you can safely with out worring about SIDS since it sounds like your baby is rolling over without a problem.
Yes, go to 'onestepahead.com' they sell those mesh gurads that you put around the crib to stop them from putting their arms and legs through, and it's safer than those crib bumpers. I bought one and it was great.

Trying putting her in a Port-a-crib. Atleast the sides are completely intact and there is no way for a leg to get stuck. Hope this helped :-)
try putting cardboard or some other hard surface along the slates or use a bumper if you don't already. my daughter gets stuck occassionally, but it has decreased greatly since i started using the bumpers
My son was the same way. The only thing I can say is to put bumber pads up. You can leave them on till 9 months. I left my son's on till he was about 11 months. At your daughters age she is capable of rolling away so dont worry about suffication too much. The only other I can say if you dont want to do the pads is buy a new crib with smaller slates.

Check this out on the leaps and bounds web site. Its a bumper that attaches all the way to the top and is made to keep little limbs inside. I have not used it but I saw it and thought it might be good for my son as well. Good luck.
How about trying to weave heavy stock cardboard cut the the height your ok with and do both sides to keep her feet in? Sounds silly, but it does sound like it would work.
the same thing happend to my daughter when we took out her bumpers I saw at babies r us a mesh bumper that you can attach to the crib to stop that from happening?

You'll want to stop it as soon as you can. My friend's son broke his leg that way. They make mesh that you put on the inside wall of the crib and it prevents limbs from getting stuck.
My daughter is 17 months old and is getting her legs stuck too. Just last night both of her legs were hanging completely out of the crib and when I tried to move her they were stuck at the knees. I think we are really for a big girl bed. As far as your baby since she is only six months old I'm wondering if you should put a crib bumper in the crib. I know they say not to, but both of my kids slep in a crib with a crib bumper and they kept them from putting their legs through.
I would look into a plastic sheating you could wrap around the out side of the crib or a highr bumber pad that you can attach longer cords to tied it down under the mattress to prevent her leg from getting underneath the bumber pad.
If you can't find one high enough. Make one, All you need is some padded material. Hand sew extra tie tabs to it.

you could try those baby bumpeers that fit tightly on the crib I think they have them at babies r us.
My son just turned 6 months old and we were having the same type of problem. I bought a breathable mesh crib "bumper" from One Step Ahead. It goes around the whole crib and all the way to the top so they can't climb on it. It just arrived today so we need to put it in the crib tonight. I hope it works.
