my sister, myself, and both my girls get teary-eyed and sweaty-bottomed when we poop but my husband does not. how about you, if you don't mind sharing.

-edit: it doesn't happen all the time and happens even without straining.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

thank you J.A. for the sciency link to vindicate our family's weirdness :P maybe it's blood pressure-related as we tend to have low blood pressure, or maybe it's related to the parasympathetic system getting signals crossed. both my daughter and i get chills easily when touched on the neck which is, according to my acupuncturist, a parasympathetic system reaction.

thanks for playing :)

You guys need to eat prunes everyday if you are straining so much that you get teary-eyed and sweaty! You mention that you aren't straining, but maybe you are and don't know it. Try the prunes and see if it helps!

Smiles!

LMAO!! When my husband comes out with beads of sweat on his head, I know what was going on in there, and to wait at least 30 minutes before entering ;)

Nope, doesn't happen to me, and I'm not asking the kids ;)

It's probably just your body's way of removing excess toxins. Sweat releases a lot of nasty stuff (there's uric acid, same as in urine, in sweat), and since you're relieving yourself of toxins when you have a BM, your body might just be going into toxin-release-overload. Sounds normal when you think about it!

THAT my dear must be one big lincoln log ya all be poopin! No mam, I do not do either. I just dump and run, but I eat a ton of fiber and veggies. Thanks for the image though I had a chuckle

Now with update, I want to mention that the act of defecation has 3 aspects. Muscular, Cardiovascular, and Neurological. Need all 3 things to do a defecation cycle. If one of these things is slightly off, it can cause a various reaction for many. Do any of you that get these symptoms have heart issues? Could be a sign of low or high blood pressure and any fluctuations in this can cause sweating and tearing up.

Nikki:

I think this is absolutely the strangest question asked here....

if you get teary-eyed - you are straining WAY too much to have a bowel movement....get more water and fiber into your diet....raisins, prunes, dates, celery, oatmeal.....

This has not happened to me.

Umm...that s a big negatory on those questions Ghost Rider! LMAO!

But I will say...I have a daycare girl...she was potty trained completely at 22 months (amazing, but true!). Ever since she has been using the potty (shes 3.5 now)...she is teary/crying eyed when shes done poo'ing. Poor thing looked so pathetic when she was such a teeny petitie thing, sitting on the big toilet, doing her business with her little short legs barely reaching the step stool...big alligator tears streaming down her face!

So... aaa...good luck with that, huh?

I'll finally be one that knows what you are talking about.. It does happen to me too from time to time and I notice that my oldest also will get a little teary eyed when she is on the toilet.. cannot imagine what it is and it's not when I'm straining.. so yes I had to give you some backup here..
