I'm 29 years old. With bathing suit season coming up I've been working out a couple of times a week and I see some results but the back of my legs/butt have disgusting dimples and folds that I can't seem to do anything about. I weigh 132 lbs and wear a size 6/8 but I have total cottage cheese thighs/butt! My mom has it really bad so I know it's genetic but there's gotta be something I can do! Any advice would be so greatly appreciated!
And does anyone know if this gets worse the more kids you have?

So What Happened?

Thanks everyone for your advice! I prefer not to spend any money on creams because I've tried so many already so I'm going to try the rubbing/massaging technique and also I did try the coffee grinds and my legs do feel smoother so I'll keep doing that. Thanks ladies for all your responses!

S., I used to have more than I have now, and what I can tell you is that doing a diet that focuses on greens, minus the fat/milk products/fatty meats will do wonders. To lose the rest of my baby weight/lumps, I got a book called Fat Flush. She really focuses on drinking a lot of true cranberry juice/water and a few supplements too. Trust me, it is a diet geared for the womanly body. It will be tough the first few days, especially if you are a caffeine drinker, but stick with it, you will see the difference! Take care, and good luck.

My closest friend is a massage therapist and she works with some electronic equipment called a "Derma-Ray" to topically treat cellulite - if you want to call her and get more information on how it works specifically her name is Rozlan - her business is Healing Hands Massage & Light Therapy in Tucson and her number is ###-###-####. It has worked for lots of her clients.

Wow - I'm a little discouraged at all the AD responses here. :(

Diet and excercise! Bottom line.

Rubbing it may "help" - but we are what we eat.

No ad here, just the OLD advice we have known for years. Sorry ladies - good luck in your businesses, but please advertise somewhere else.

I didn't read other responses you got. But I got this "Grandma remedies" book where I found an incredible solution. And most of all, it's free (if you like coffee, that is)! Instead of throwing away the coffee grains from the filter, take them with you into the shower. I scoop some with my hand and just rub them on the problem area. I do this and it feels very exfoliating. I really only rub my thighs for a couple of minutes, and the first time, I couldn't believe it. My skin felt instantly tighter. I thought it was just from the rubbing and that it would go away soon. That day I happened to shower twice, so I had done it in the morning and I did it at night after my work-out. The next day I wore shorts and went to a restaurant. I crossed my legs, and as I've always been self-conscious about this, I looked down and saw WAY FEWER dimples on my skin, just from the pressure against the chair. They were not completely gone, but hey, I had only done it twice! So needless to say, when I showered that night, I did the same. My skin looks really tight, and I'm not afraid to sit and cross my legs anymore. You don't have to believe me, and I didn't believe it when I read it. But I decided to try it, because I wasn't going to spend any more money, it was readily available and sooo easy to do. Then I remembered that my dad (a doctor) told me that coffee shrinks blood vessels. It may have to do with this. I swear by it. I don't know if it gets worse if you have more kids. I have two, I'm 27 and I'm 5' 2", 114 lbs. It worked for me. I wish you the best.
(Edited after reading some responses) Yes, I think it's important you work out. I forgot to mention I've been working out for over a year now, I gained 8 lbs of muscle, but couldn't get rid of the cellulite. After rubbing the coffee grains though, I feel like I finally look the way I should after so much work! Working out and a healthy diet will definitely help. I am still in disbelief. I keep pushing my skin with my hand, just to check that the dimples are really NOT there! Please let me know if you try it and if it works for you too, just to reassure me I'm not imagining things! Good luck!

You need to get some cardiovascular exercise! Exercise for a minimum of 20 minutes 5 days per week. You can do this by going on a long walk with your kids (in a stroller). I would also recommend some resistance exercise. (this can be done at home or at a gym). If you do not know where to start, call a local gym and schedule an evalutaion and 1-2 personal training sessions with a personal trainer. However, since the industry of personal training is not regulated, it can be difficult to make sure you have a good one. Ask him/her who she is certifed by. The best ones are ACE, ACSM and NSCA -- these require college degrees and are not over-the-internet week-end certifications. Good luck!

A treatment called Endermologie really works! It feels good too. Make sure you get it done through a doctors office though because there are scams. I go to Health Horizons ###-###-#### and they have 2 locations. (one in the NE and one on the WestSide) I know they do free consults so give them a call. A.

Sounds like from Wendy's response, it is more about the massage then the actual cream...I suggest saving yourself money and just massaging lotion into your legs twice a day for a month and see if you notice any changes....

Hi S.,
You are certainly not alone! Like most things in regard to our health it goes back to a healthy lifestyle, exercise, reduce stress and eat healthy. You can be thin and have cellulite! Cellulite is fatty deposits AND it is all the chemicals in our processed food that our body does not recognize and does not know what to do with, so your body deposits it in this layer of fat!

For example, diet soda and ALL diet foods are sweetened with some kind of artificial sweetner. These do not occur in nature, they are chemicals, I could send you some INFO that would scare you to death about the harm they can do to your body and at the very least the foreign, un-natural chemicals get deposited in the fatty layer.
You can start detoxing your body, detox with what you eat and detox with detox baths. Exercise, we have a new fitness DVD that talks about the 3 kinds of exercise we should all do.

I am in the health and wellness education for my business, and you are welcome to any of my DVD's (just send them back to me) and you are welcome to come to a health education lecture! Just call me at 866-508-2910

Not sure that I believe in any cream fixing the issue since I can't seem to really get a handle on it either. However, I do agree that many time genetics can be a huge part of the issue. What I do agree with is exercise and deep detoxing, seem to help diminish the look for some of my members. We use a Infrared Sauna that produces heat like that from the sun, but without the sunburn and without steam, so it doesn't suck the wind out of you.

First off you burn about 600 calories in 30 min. you can do this daily by the way. Because of the way the heat penetrates the skin and goes deeply down into the bone it is now being used to treat Multiple Sclerosis, Fibromyalgia, and Rheumatoid Arthritis.

Many of my member workout then use the Infrared Sauna to detox and then it helps the muscles to recover. Others use it to just for the deep detox.

My suggestion is do some research on the Internet on Infrared Sauna and all of it many benefits. Good luck with finding something that works for you. Should you have any questions please feel free to contact me at M-F 7 am to 3 pm @ ###-###-####

There are treatments you can get from plastic surgeons that aren't horrendous. There are are also alot of creams on the market. Mary Kay has a really good system that has a day cream and night gel. It takes about a month to see results but they are there. The set is around $50 and lasts for a couple months. I had a lot of success with it because I tend to get a little bit on the back of my thighs. Go to marykay.com and you can find a consultant in your area.

Getting rid of cellulite has to do with the lymphatic system not flushing properly. Hence toxins are stored in the fatty areas to protect the organs from the toxins. Dry skin brushing ( google online for how-to tips)lemon water, bouncing on an exercise ball or mini-trampoline(since the lypmph does not have it's own pump one has to manually pump) lymphatic massage, and staying away from processed foods, additives and preservatives, using water jets on target areas and building muscle to burn fat helps a lot. There are many other treatments you can pay big bucks for too. It will be something always to keep in check yet love your body anyway. That is the best beauty treatment there is.

I believe that the reason for Cellulite is speration of the fat cells. Or something to that effect. I was told that sometimes rubbing the areas massaging the area will help break up and make the cellulite smoother. There really is no over the counter cure for it. Most women have to go in and get treatments to help reduce cellulite. personaly everything that I have used has not done much. I think that there is a cream AVON makes that is supose to help that I have not tried yet

Hi S.,

I recommend the Figure 8 Vanish system from Arbonne. My friend of almost 20 years uses it. She lost 1/2" off both thighs in 2 weeks and so she continues to use it. We are both Arbonne consultants (which is why she used it before trying something else), so let me know if you have any questions. She said one of the key things is to use the massager and to use all 3 products. She received quicker results from using the 3 products (water relief treatment serum, pre-shower cellulite scrub, contouring cellulite cream) than she did with only using the 2 (pre-shower cellulite scrub, contouring cellulite cream).

I am so glad that you asked! Yes, it is genetic and there are things that we can do to improve the illusion of flawless skin.
Arbonne has a 3 Step system that has had some serious results to reduce the appearance of cellulite and water retention. It is called Figure 8 Vanish.
Then we just launched the most amazing Detox Spa line that will help you get even more results.
Let me ask you a question....if I could show you how to get these amazing products 35-80% off, would you be interested?

Did you know that most women use 12 personal care items a day? and in those products there are 162 different chemicals! yuk, huh? Arbonne is a company that has Pure, Safe and Beneficial products. If you are not happy with them, they have a 45 day money back guarantee policy!

I would love to talk more with you :)

I'm not sure there is a way to ever 100% "get rid" of cellulite but I know of a product that helps in reducing it's debths and it's uncomfort. It's a Mary Kay product called Cellu-Shape. It's a morning lotion and a night time gel that you apply to the areas that are real bad. After about 7 days you see a difference and after 14 (not missing a day) the results are amazing.

Now..... someone will most likely say this is SPAM because I am a consultant with Mary Kay. But you wanted to know what works, so I am just sharing that with you. The contact is up to you if you are interested in knowing more. My name is L. and my website is www.marykay.com/2BUTFL.

Hi S.! I find that fast paced walking really helps to tone my legs. Now as far as the cellulite, I was told by a doctor that all those expensive, fancy, cellulite creams only work because you are actually "rubbing" the problem area. So I went out and found a good cream at my local store and every now and then I massage the heck out of my legs. So if you have a five minutes to spare on yourself, rub rub rub the back of your legs and rear... Good luck!

See i know that sometimes cellulite also for genetic reason but the good way to get rid of it is these remedies:
Oral Remedy
•Mix 2 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar into an 8 ounce glass of water.
•Optionally add a small amount of honey as a sweetener.
•Drink this once each morning.
Topical Remedy
•Mix 3 parts apple cider vinegar with one part of your favorite massage oil.
•Gently knead this solution onto affected skin areas twice daily.
•This massage treatment will help to reduce the appearance of cellulite. Another use of some cellulite creams like cellulean, RevitaShape, Bliss Fat girl slim which are good for cellulite reduction...And if you think that it get worse by having more kids so you are wrong because cellulite is not linked with your children....Don't worry about the side effects of these creams because my friend had used a cellulite cream from these and the results were amazing without any drawbacks...So you can use it and see more results in cellulite reduction...

Massage can help get rid of it. You know those cellulite creams? Part of the reason they work AT ALL is because you're massaging it into the affected area. Frequently. Massage Envy or Parrish the Stress offer memberships that could give you a decent deal on a massage once a week. Or you could opt for a hand held shiatsu unit (percussion or vibration massage won't do it) and do it yourself or have your hubby help you out.

I was on a cruise ship once and was having a massage (my only one ever). The massusse took one look at my thighs and gasped. He told me i need to "hit" the cellulite. In the shower maybe with the showerbrush "hit" and rub the areas. He said that it can be controlled with better circulation to the areas....so they say.

i think it is excersize. i has started getting cellulite a few years ago and started excersizing pretty regularly. i did notice that it went away!!! i was trying to be regular at excersing and eating low carb (ya right - i dont think that worked) and the last thing i really expected was to see it dissapear, but it did. well, now it has come back with a vengance cause i am 5 yrs older (36) and pretty lazy these days, but after i have the baby i am going to try to lose the fat again. because i now have it on my thighs, like lower thighs above knees, where i have to wear long shorts, and like i wore short ones the other day and my hubby saw from a distance and was like "wow"?! i said quit lookin'! like not ready for that!! would love to hear if you find a solution or what brings about a change. how tall are you? i did both eliptical (strong and steady incl arms for 30 - 40 mins) and weight machines. good luck!!

I have had really good luck with the Timewise Cellushape from Mary Kay. It is a night time gel and a day time lotion that you put on the places you have cellulite. It takes about a month before you will really see the results, but I started to notice my legs looked firmer in about two weeks. I don't think there is anything that will work immediately, although if there was I would love to try it!
