Hello Bionic Vemma Babe-

I have always believed it's best to provide children with real food, like apples, carrots, bananas, milk, yogurt etc. We are teaching children their life long eating habits from the first day solid foods are introduced. If we as parents provide them with good/ natural food choices, they will eat through life with those choices.

When I was a Nanny, I taught the kids we could have fun foods, like McDonalds, but we also needed to eat good foods later too. Later, when they were preteens/teens, they would go out with friends & have junk food, but come home and hit the fruit bowl to 'balance' their earlier choices.

Additionally, studies have shown, if we do not provide our children with the refined foods, they won't develop a taste for them and will not like them later.

I hope this helps.

I don't think children need "products" so much as they need real food. Fresh veggies, fresh fruit, protein, whole grains. The food pyramid! Teach your child to eat healthy now and they will continue (hopefully!) to eat healthy as older children and adults.

Pediasure. Hands down, the best! When my oldest child was almost 2, we started him on them, and he LOVED them! We called them his "shake shake" and he would have one every evening. He wasn't a big eater, so this really helped. There's even a generic brand at most stores, which are much cheaper, and taste exactly the same (at least my son thought so).

Also, the gummie vitamins (if your child is old enough) are excellent. I even take them!

Dear Bionic Vemma Babe,

I am passionate about educating people to be healthy. My biz is Juice Plus+ a truly great whole food solution that has "Evidence Based Research" that supports the immune system.

As someone who cares about children it might interest you to know Dr. William Sears a renowned Pediatrition supports and recommends JP+ to his patients. Please feel free to peruse my website www.juiceplus.com/+ck49780 (Dr. Sears has a link here too)

And, if you child is between the ages of 4 - 18 there is a way for you to get their nutrional supplements for FREE. Would you like more information?

For better health,
C.

Oh my gosh, I stuggle with this exact thing. My husband and I eat a variety of healthy food and snacks. We purchase organic food for the kids and make better choices for them. They don't eat much veggies, but enjoy fruit. So I feel that I have to supplement them with a little extra, especially around flu season. We tried everything from flinstone, gummy, emergen c for kids, whole food brand, etc. my kids don't like vitamins! I finally found a liquid vitamin at Costco. Safe for the whole family. Anyway. I sneak it in a little apple juice they don't even know its there.

Hi,
Shakleekids Incredivites and Mighty Smart are awesome. Shaklee is the number one seller of natural nutrition. You can check them out at http://www.shaklee.net/healthforlife.
Here's what Dr. Stephen Chaney (professor of nutrition at Duke University) has to say: "So what can you do as a consumer? Here are my
recommendations:

1) Get your supplements from an established company
with a reputation for quality and integrity. I would
recommend choosing a company that has been around for a
number of years so that you know that their reputation
is based on their track record over the years rather
than just on hype.

2) Make sure that they run rigorous quality controls on
their products. I would choose a company that requires
pharmaceutical grade quality controls on their
products.

3) Make sure that they have published clinical studies
on their products that prove both safety and
effectiveness. Again I would recommend choosing a
company that has many published clinical studies on
their products rather than just one or two.

To Your Health!

P.S. Shaklee supplements are my personal recommendation
because Shaklee insists on rigorous quality control
tests on every one of their ingredients and on their
finished products. For example, they import ultra pure,
triple distilled fish oil from England and test it for
PCB contamination after they receive it. They also have
published over 70 clinical studies on their products in
peer-reviewed scientific journals. They are unique in
the industry."

I second the Koala Pals chewable vitamins choice. Beware anything with isolated forms of minerals (--oxide, --sulfate, gluconate or chelate), as they actually cause the formation of free radicals, nullifying the vitamin antioxidants that are part of any "multi". This actually does more harm to the body than good, so if you're not taking (or giving your kids) a supplement that has the patented OligoFructose Complex formula, you're better off taking nothing at all.

My clients love Koala Pals for their children. They're the ONLY kids’ chewable with Oligofructose Complex® and contain Research-recommended amounts of 22 vitamins and minerals. They contain No artificial colors, flavors, or sweeteners.

What Makes It Different?
Only Koala Pals multivitamin supplement provides 22 vitamins and minerals crucial to proper health and nutrition during a child’s most formative years in a delicious all-natural flavor kids love. Koala Pals is flavored with real fruit juices, and contains no artificial colors, flavors, or sweeteners. And the best part? Koala Pals is the only children’s chewable to feature patent-pending Oligofructose Complex™ to provide maximum solubility and antioxidant protection.

The Oligofructose Difference

Essential for a vibrant life, better health, and more energy
Vitamins and minerals help prevent disease and provide crucial support to most body functions, including growth and energy production. Vitality Multivitamin and Mineral provides the ideal levels of nutrients based on your unique age and gender requirements.

Delivers nutrients Just Like Nature™
Oligofructose Complex binds minerals to organic compounds to mirror the way they are naturally found in fruits, vegetables, and other whole foods.
Proven by science to be up to 10 times more available for absorption than the competition*
Traditional mineral forms can crystallize in the intestines, making them difficult to absorb. Oligofructsoe Complex helps keep minerals soluble in the intestine—where nutrient absorption takes place.
Protects antioxidant vitamins from free radical damage up to 5 times better than the leading brands*
Traditional mineral forms can cause an increase of free radicals, robbing the antioxidants in your multivitamin (vitamins A, C, and E) of some of their potency before they can be absorbed. Oligofructose Complex guards the minerals, reducing their ability to generate excess free radicals.
We challenge our competitors to produce any evidence contrary to these scientific findings
Oligofructose Complex was developed by Melaleuca scientists and verified by leading researchers in the field. We challenge all vitamin and mineral supplement manufacturers to perform their own test and see how their supplements stand up against Oligofructose Complex.
*When tested against the sulfate, gluconate, oxide, and fumarate forms of copper, iron, manganese, and zinc (the forms commonly used by almost all commercially marketed nutritional supplements) at intestinal conditions.
Why Is That Important?
All the nutrients in the world won’t do you any good if your body can’t use them. The Vitality Pack has been formulated using the most bioavailable nutrient sources—often multiple sources—all in research-recommended amounts to help you get the nutrients you need every day. It also offers one thing no other multivitamin in the world can offer—Oligofructose Complex. This amazing breakthrough promotes maximum mineral solubility while protecting the potency of your antioxidants. In fact, no other mineral form is more absorbable than Melaleuca’s Oligofructose Complex.*

The result is more energy and better health—a difference kids can actually feel.

It Works Because…
The minerals in supplements crystallize during digestion, which inhibits absorption. In addition, minerals also tend to trigger free radicals during digestion. This cascade of free radicals can "use up" the antioxidants in your multivitamin (vitamins A, C, and E), rendering them nearly useless.

Oligofructose Complex binds minerals to organic compounds (oligofructose and amino acid) to mirror the way minerals are naturally found in fruits, vegetables, and other whole foods. This binding process not only keeps the minerals more available for the body to absorb, it also guards the minerals—disarming their ability to generate massive amounts of free radicals. As a result, more of the critical nutrients you need for better health are available for use every day.

Yes, it can be tough to make sure that kids get all they need nutrition-wise every day, Bionic Vemma Babe. I find that juicing fruits and veggies really helps. A whole plateful of healthy produce can go into one glass of freshly made juice and it it super easy for our bodies to take up these nutrients. I love it! You can even add a few of the things they don't usually want to eat, without them even being aware of it. It really works.
