Why Doesn't Anyone LOVE Their Ob/gyn in Orlando?

I've been in Orlando over a year and have met tons of moms...but none of them "love" their ob/gyn. I've already been to 2 and either didn't care for the dr. or didn't care for the cleanliness of the office. Does anyone have an ob/gyn they love? I'm newly pregnant and looking to deliver at Winnie. I live near the airport...but would be open to driving for someone with a great reputation. I try to stay clear of the big practices because customer service always seems to lack based on my experience. I would love to hear your feedback! Thanks!

So What Happened?

Thank you ladies for all your suggestions...and of course if anyone comes across this and has another dr to recommend I would still love to hear it. I've decided on Dr. Peppy. He is a good 30 min drive from my house but I know 4 people that go to him and they all seem to really like him. I'm hoping that I"ll have the same experience.

Hi M.!
I have to agree with you. I had a rough going finding the right doctor for me. I ended up finding a great practice with my most recent pregnancy. Delaney OB/GYN on Gore St. It's only a couple blocks from Winnie Palmer.
I love that I rarely ever had to wait to see the doctor. I think Dr. Thatcher is the best doctor there. I wish I had stared seeing her from the beginning. I don't care for Dr. Snow for a few reasons, but I kept going to him because it was so convenient and I loved the staff and ease of going to his office. It wasn't until late in my pregancy that I met Dr. Thatcher and knew she was the one for me. She is great and thorough and super friendly.
I would highly recommend Delaney OB/GYN, just make sure you see Dr. Thatcher.
Good luck!

Ultracare 4D Baby Imaging has opened a new location in Orlando (Winter Park) and in Melbourne Florida. I am the only sonographer that will scan at both locations.
I have been an ultrasonographer for over 15 years and would love the opportunity to give you a memorable experience. I have a brand new (top quality) ultrasound machine that is attached to a theatre monitor. DVD's are personalized with graphics, baby lullabies, and your baby's name. All of your friends and family are welcome to come. Another way to remember your experience is to leave with a heartbeat teddy bear. This bear has a recordable device to record the heartbeat of your baby.
Make a memory!

What an odd thing to say...

I "love" my ob/gyn... he delivered 2 of my 3 babies (I had diffferent insurance for baby #2)... the first was emergency c-section

But he doesn't deliver to Winnie (which I think is over rated anyway-- babies 1 and 3 were delivered at Winter Park hospital and the ob/gyn office is across the street)

Dr Breit at Winter Park Ob/Gyn

Dr. Bernard Despres is an AWESOME Dr. he has been my OB/GYN for almost 14 yrs now I started seeing him when I was 17 yrs old and pregnant with my first I am 31 now, he has delivered all my children and alot of my friends children we all started going to him by referral. I dont care if I move an hr away form his office I will continue to see him I will not stop seeing him untill he decides to retire the nurse Bonnie is awesome she has been with him just as long. I truly would not recommend him if I didn't think he was GREAT!!! He is located in Winter park right next to the hospital and I used to live right next to the airport when I was pregnant with my 2nd and drove there all the time. He gives you more than one sonogram more than 3 for the most part I had with my kids atleast 5 by him and its in 3-D. Good luck on finding the Dr. that is right for you and bringing your baby into the world. Aloma Park OB/GYN
###-###-####, if he does work out for you or you choose to see him please let me know, I would love to know about someone else going and seeing him!!

It all depends on what you are looking for and who is giving the reference. For example, Tammi (your first response) said she loved Dr.Breit. He was who did my c-section and I found him to be such an awful doctor you couldn't pay me money to ever see him again. He and another doctor at that practice pushed me into an early induction for their own convenience and when it failed (which was predictable)they scared me into agreeing to a c-section. Then he made jokes while slicing me open. No thanks.
I have heard amazing things about a Dr.Fitz out near Waterford. She delivers at Winnie.
Another good friend of mine adores her OB, Dr.Peppy and he delivers at Winnie too.

Orlando is not a great place to deliver and that I think that is why you are getting the reviews you are getting. Our c-section rate is triple what it should be (seriously, close to 30% when it should be around 10%.) Pitocin is used in 70%+ of births when there is no need. It's just not a baby-mama friendly place to give birth.
Your best option at a baby friendly place if you want a hospital is Florida Hospital Altamonte. There are also several good birthing centers that are much more baby-mama friendly than the hospitals.
Good luck with whatever you choose!
