Does anyone have a recommendation for a great and safe scooter for my 3 year old son? He is outgrowing his little tricycle and I"m thinking of getting him a scooter for Christmas.
Happy Holidays!

What can I do next?

We got our son one of the three wheeled scooter, as he doesn't quite have the balance and coordination for a regular one. It's a Spiderman one which we bought from a second hand store, but it didn't appear to have been used. I have also seen a style that has four small wheels instead of the three bigger wheels. You may already be planning on it, but if not, I would suggest getting a helmet too. It's a good time to start getting them in the habit of wearing one.

We have the Radio Flyer scooter for my son...he loves it and it is very stable. It also folds really easy for trips to the park.

Hi! Our youngest just turned 3 in August and we are thinking about getting her a little scooter as well. I've been looking at the little 3 wheeled scooters. She has tried her older brother's 2 wheeled one and she doesn't do well with it. I figure with the 3 wheeled one, she'll have better balance. I've seen the 3 wheeled ones at kmart and walmart. Good luck! :)

I agree with the three-wheeled scooter as well. He will be able to control it and they are not so heavy as the two-wheelers. Also, the three-wheelers have character designs to choose from. My daughter recieved a Tinkerbell one for her 3rd birthday and she loves it! She flies around on that thing like nobodys business and she feels on top of the world. My nephew, who was 4 at the time, recieved a two-wheeler and he had a hard time getting the hang of it. It seemed to frustrate him more than delight him. Now, at 5, he loves it. I would start with the three-wheeler. If that's a big hit, you can move up to a two-wheeler next year.

I would say to start get him a 3 wheel scooter like a cars one or spiderman. We got my 3 year old son a new scooter for christmas that is a 2 wheel one, but it has wider wheels and is for ages 3 and up. However he has been riding a 3 wheel scooter since before he was 2 and is crazy on it. So we ar upgrading to a bigger one for him. The 3 wheels are great for starting though and they hold up well to!

We got our son a simple three wheeled scooter when he was three. He caught on to the idea pretty quickly and there haven't been any accidents on it.

yor talking about the razor type then go for it - every kid in our neighborhood has one and they love it. They have a version for younger kids where it has 4 wheels and is a bit more stable. The kids in our neighborhood range in age from 2.5yo and up to teens. I would say get a helmet to go with it and have fun :)
