Anyone know of any stores that double coupons in the Frisco, Plano area. Trying to figure out how to lessen my grocery bill and seeking out ways to save money on food. I would appreciate any advice.

go to www.thegrocerygame.com and let me tell you I have walked out of the grocery store with $150 worth of groceries for $40. It takes a few weeks to get the really good deals because you have to save the newspaper coupon books. What I have found to be the easiest instead of cutting and cutting and cutting and filing and filing and filing is to just write the date of the paper on the outside of the coupon booklet and only cut the ones the list tells you to cut because it tells you the date and which booklet it is from. If you sign up please tell them that I referred you and I get a free 8 weeks (S. Bleckner). It is so cheap and soooooooo awesome. I have been able to help out my mom, aunt, sister, abused woman and her children, college brother, etc. because I have so much shampoo and cereal. I sell every item to them for $1 a piece.

J.,
Brooshire's does double up to 50c and triple up to 30c. Look at your weekly adds from Kroger and Albertson's on the meat sections. We only buy our meat this way and it has saved us lots of money.

I don't mess with any coupon games, etc unless it is something really good. TIME = MONEY My time is used in much more valuable ways than signing up for games and clipping coupons. Also, think about it....driving to numerous stores to save a buck here and there......Gas money and wear/tear on your car.

I shop smart. I typically shop only at my local Tom Thumb and Market Street for groceries. Tom THumb has some sort of gas deal going and 2 weeks ago I got 30 cents a gallon off my gas! I will go to Target for the other stuff. Just last week I got 4 coupons in the mail from both grocery stores for $10 of any $50 purchase. I will use that type of coupon that I can just throw in my wallet. I do read the weekly ads and plan what I need accordingly.

I buy all of my meats, chicken, pork from Hirsch's meat market. It is not cheap at Hirsch's, you get what you pay for. You are getting steaks that are of the same quality or higher than what is served at Del Frisco's, etc. I go there about once a month to stock up and keep it in my freezer.

You can save money by shopping smart. Best wishes to you!!

I second the grocery game, it saves me a lot of money but does take a little time. But being a SAHM I feel my job is to stretch our dollars as far as they will go.

Tom Thumb, Albertsons, and Kroger all double and triple coupons. One of the biggest things that saves my family is making the weekly meals based upon what is on sale. So if chicken is on sale that is what we are having this week. (Not that it will be the only thing) This really saves us a lot of money.

I went to Kroger and Tom Thumb yesterday and saved over $120 on groceries only spending $100. That is a well over 50%

Hi J., I just went to Kroger in Frisco over the weekend and with their savings and my coupons which they do double up to 50 cents I had $80.00 in savings. They have a sale going that when you buy ten or mor items another $5.00 comes off the bill. These items are already on sale it is another $5 off. They will let you have up to (3) $5.00 off savings.

It is one of their best adds I have seen in a while. good luck!!

Check out Angel Food Ministries http://www.angelfoodministries.com/

Churches sponsor it. You go to the website and it will ask you for your location and it will give you the pick up locations in your area. They have a different set of groceries every month for only $30.00. The website says it is enough to feed a family of four for a week. They have other options also, such as a bunch of meat for a set price. For November they even have a Thanksgiving meal on there. It is NOT for just low income families, anyone can order through them but you can use food stamps if that is your need. My mother and sisters purchase it and I intend on starting this month.

If you need to stock up on cheep meat, Tom Thumb is the place to go. I try to get there in the morning. They discount their meats that are going off sale drastically, 30-50%. Sometimes, the price per pound has been discounted ahead of time so you get even more. If you just put most of it in the freezer for future use, it can save you a bundle. I picked up a 4.4# beef roast for $4.40! I don't tend to shop there for most foods since their prices run a bit high, but I try to hit their meat department when I can. If you buy in quantity, just pick up some ziplock freezer bags and repackage the meat. I will do that with chicken breast. If I buy ground meat, I put a pound into a quart freezer bag and freeze it flat. It makes it easier to thaw out later.

Kroger, Tom Thumb, and Albertsons all double and triple coupons. They triple up to and including $0.39 and double from $0.40 to $0.50.

I second the Angel Food Ministries post. It's a wonderful way to save money. It has enough food to feed dinner for a family of four for a week. It's very reasonably priced, and has good food. Like the other poster said, you don't have to have low income to take advantage of it. Just note that most locations will NOT take credit cards. Check ahead to see if they'll take a personal check or not.

This past month, I bought two of the regular boxes since it's stuff we normally eat. The food lasts a longer than normal time for us because it's just me, DH & a 3-yr old. It's really nice to be able to cut my grocery bill to about $150 for the MONTH!! I buy a couple Angel Food boxes (make sure you have room in your freezer) and then just buy our breafast & lunch items for the rest of the month.

Good luck!

Kroger's, Alertson's and Tom Thumb all double and triple coupons. Wal-mart matches prices of competitor's ads(with ad in hand) and Sprouts has the cheapest produce.

Kroger, Albertsons, and Tom Thumb double coupons up to 50 cents and triple coupons up to 39 cents. If you want to make the drive to Allen, Brookshires triples all coupons up to 60 cents. I always save at least minimum 50% everytime I go grocery shopping. We also planted a vegetable garden this year. Good luck in your saving ventures...

Wal-Mart has a store policy to match their competitors advertized prices. Each week I collect the local grocery fliers and sit down with a cup of coffee and a 1" pad of PostIt notes. I write down the store, product, and item price on each note and stick it to my grocery list. Be nice and group the "price match" items together at check out and politely tell the cashier that these are competitor's prices on the notes. This will save you a TON of money of fresh items, meats, dairy and other packaged items that you would normally pay full price. When you put an item in your cart, put the note on it. That way when you check out it goes quickly. The checkers will appreciate it and you won't hold up the line juggling fliers. You are supposed to have the flier with you to confirm the price, but I am rarely asked. The store manager will have all the local fliers as well. You can still plan a seperate trip to a store that doubles coupons for those items, but this will save you from running all over town to cherry pick specials. Plan your weekly menus around the specials and you will save big on your grocery budget! Good luck!

Eliminate foods that are not good for your body. Cookies, sugary cereals, sodas, candy... A thought. Also, depending on the size of your yard, you could grow certain vegetables in the particular growing seasons. Might check to see how much a side of cow would cost to get processed versus buying the usual beef products at the grocery.

Thoughts only...

Enjoy your day.
