I will like to know have anyone encountered problems in Florida with the Department of Revenues(child support)in trying to receive child support from a parent that reside out of the State of Florida, who is reluctant about paying. What steps did you take to receive the child support?
First of all, I will like to thank everyone for their input. I see that I am not the only one that are having a hard time with the Florida Dept. of Revenue. Second of all ladies, there are a Federal Office of Child Support located in Atlanta Ga that handles Florida and seven other states for any parent that have complaints with the way Florida are not helping you in starting are getting the child support for your children.There address are Adm. for Children and Families

I am working with Mrs. Ann Russell. She is investigating my situation, and getting in touch with the Tennessee child support enforcement being that Florida found it very hard to do. My situation was that the father resides in Tennessee and have an active cases there. He is having child support deducted from his check every week for an 15 year old, he have never payed support until 4 months ago. The problem is I don't know where he work and all I had was an post office box for his address.I did have his case# and member# for the case he have in Tennessee, and checked it every week to see if he was paying there, and in fact he was. I tried on several occasion to give the information to Florida, but they did not want it.That what brought me to ask you all the question I asked. We mothers need to stick together and if you are like me ,I will go through Hell and high waters(knowing that I can't swim a bit)for my childrens.
Well, from experience I can say that it is difficult enough to get childsupport from a parent in the state of Florida, non the less an out of state parent. It took me two years to start recieving anything and then my weekly amount is really not enough for three kids, $150 a week.

I am having that problem with my x and paying child support form another state. Basically it's going to take a long time it's been almost a year and I still haven't recieved anything. Florida is slow when It comes to out of state child support. You need to call them on a Weekly basis and let them know you are there adn wont go away until you get some money. Then they willl slowly start taking actions.

It has been a long road for my daughter and I trying to get child support from her father who is living in New York one minute and Nevada the next. I have a wonderful caseworker named Marie and I know that she is doing everything within her power to move my case along. Have you started a petition yet?
I cant tell by your question but.......the first thing you need to do is start a petition. This includes submitting a financial affidavate and lots of other fun stuff. This paper will be sent to the state your childrens father resides and the state will find him. Next he will be served papers to appear in court within the next 30 days. You can apply to appear via telephone because you live in a different state. It should be as easy as that. Of course all of this stuff takes time and I have been trying for 19 months now but.......If you have any specific questions I may beable to help you. I have done five petitions for my daughters "state jumping" father and have done lots of reseach on my rights. Let me know and good luck!

It depends on what state he is moving to.
However, no matter what states he moves too, if he is behind in child support payments, when he files a tax return at end of year, if he is entitled a refund it will go to you and not him.

Hi, Z.! I heard that the child support office here in FL could help you collect child support from another state. COntact them,go to myflorida.com and go to resident and they have the toll free number there for you to locate the nearest office to you.

*** Sorry I missed your statement that said he resides out of the state. *** Was your divorce handled here? I know you can still file for contempt as long as it was handled here. He does not have to reside here.
Can you make a trip to where he lives? You can file in his area as well.
It makes it harder if he is not in the same state.

I am going to make your life so much easier.
I am going to take you step by step on how to painlessly and efficiantly get your money. I fight my ex - about every other year or so & have become quite profficent at it.
(1) If you got your divorce in Florida & both reside in Florida, you simply go down to the courthouse & file a Motion of Contempt for Child support.
(2) Next the Judges clerk will send you a court date.
(3) You go to your court date, proper paperwork in tow & he will issue contempt warrent & either your ex wil payup (in full) right then & there or he will be arrested & not allowed out until he is caught up.

Well when I moved here 3 1/2 years ago I transfer my support to fl from ga. But some how I still go through Ga. When I would call fl to update our check my case they would have nothing so I just stayed with ga. But it took me a good fours years for fighten with them finding him. before i recevied anything.
I wrote to my congressman & any other politician! I've been getting support now for 10 years! But it took a lot of writing to get results...
Hi Z., I offer no hope whatsoever. I have been fighting for child support for 2 years now with Dept of Revenue here in Florida. How it works is they go after the state that the father resides in. Depending on that states laws on child support is what is enforced. I can only recommend you call the state (call the county courthouse) that your child's father resides in, and ask them what they're procedures are for collecting child support. Tell them you are out of state, if you ARE going through the Dept. of Revenue here in Florida, and have a case number, they should be able to tell you what the status is of your case. My husband and I were divorced in May of 2005, I have to this day received nothing. All the Dept of Revenue has done is put a "hold" on his IRS refunds.. that's if he'll even file one.
