Toys All Over

If the kids are are toddler, preschool and preschool, do I let it go and have the house overrun with toys? If I put them all downstairs (the toys, not the kids), what was the point of buying the toys? We have hurt feet from stepping on stuff. It's stressful. We can barely walk and have a path anywhere. I just cleaned for an hour, and the child dumped the toy bins all over the floor right away. Wanting to give up cleaning! Even cutting back and having just some out, quickly becomes a mess. Plus, we cannot vacuum.

Bike, Trike, or Quad?

Ok, it's my turn to ask for help. My oldest is 3.5 years old, turns 4 in February and we're thinking about buying him a bike for Christmas or his birthday. He's big for his age so we're not sure whether to get him a bike with training wheels, a trike, or maybe a Kettcar which is like a go-kart or soapbox vehicle. I'm not sure he can handle a bike at this point even if it has training wheels on it. I'd be afraid he would fall off and never want to try again. There is a Schwinn tricycle that I like a lot, it looks very nice, not baby-ish...

Toy Storage/Organization/Picking Up

I am constantly going crazy with picking up toys! I have 2 girls, ages 3 & 6, who LOVE to play with lots of toys at once. They mix their Little People with their princesses and ponies and their Pet Shop animals, building houses and stacking dishes and food, cutting out papers for them... it's a mess. I like that they are playing creatively, but I don't know how to keep the mess under control. What happens is that by the end of the day there is such a huge mess that it is overwhelming for them to want to pick up. (Plus I'm often not home...

Target Brand Diapers

We have been using Huggies Little movers exclusively for about 6 months. I love them. They NEVER leak on my son. However, we are trying to cut back on spending and I was curious about Target's Up&Up brand diapers. Anyone use them? Any comparison to the Huggies brand as far as fit, leaks, etc. Thanks!

Alternative to American Girl Doll

I am looking for an alternative to an AG doll for my almost 5 year old. She doesn't know anything about AG or that they even exist, but I really want to take her downtown to the store (more for me, I'm sure), but I don't think she needs a $100 doll. We have an Our Generation from Target, but her hair is trashed. Is there another doll out there that has hair that can be done that is cheaper? Are AG dolls worth it? Is the hair that nice? I haven't actually seen one in person. Thanks.

School Lunch Box Recommendations

I am going to send my little guy with lunch to school. He will leave the house around 7 am and will eat around noon. I am looking for a lunch box suggestion. Insulated? Did you send ice packs to keep stuff cold? Did it work? I am new to this, so any help is appreciated. The lunch box will have to be purchased online because I am on bed rest and cannot leave the house, so please send online recommendations! Thanks moms!

Little Girl Who Loves Thomas the Tank Engine NOT Baby Dolls or Princesses

I need a little "Mommy Wisdom". Our daughter is two and a half and loves to read, play with stuffed animals, and adores Thomas the Tank Engine. She was introduced to Thomas by chance. She noticed a book at the library lying on the table and we read it. She has been hooked ever since. She has a small train set and adores playing with it, reading the Thomas books, and seeing the occasional Thomas video. All was great until she was invited to a neighbor's 3rd birthday party. It was Princess Extravaganza party which was lovely. Of...

Unpainted Toys Made of Natural Wood

Years ago when I had two young children, I got them only unpainted toys made of natural wood. No plastic, no small parts, no paint. There were a couple of stores that specialized in that kind of toy. Now, when I want to get the same types of toys for my grandchildren, I can't find any. Do any of you know where there is such a toy store between San Francisco and San Jose? I'm going to be in D-E-E-P trouble with my daughter if I don't find those kinds of toys before Christmas!!! Thanks for any suggestions you have.
