Do You Own a Guinea Pig? If So, Please Tell Me Everything About Them.

My children want a guinea pig. They got a book from their school library and they are reading about them and trying to "sell" the idea to me and their daddy. I just don't want to have to take care of an animal. Our cat of 18 years died two years ago and we are a family of 6 and we are busy. I have grown quite accustomed to not having to take care of a pet. My oldest daughter, 12 years old, promised she would care for a guinea pig and I really have no idea what is involved in caring for one. So here are some basic questions I'd...

Homeschooling a 3 Year Old

Any advice on starting a cuuriculum for my 3 year old. I'm a SAHM and our budget is slim, right now I can't afford to get him into half day preschool. The least expensive I've found is $95 a week. So I've been seriously thinking of homeschooling him. What advice, websites and curriculum can be beneficial and easy to teach. Thanks moms

ADHD In 3 Year Old

We have been observing our 3 year old for the last year and 1/2 for signs of ADHD. Well her symptoms have escalated in the last month. She is very defiant, gets frustrated very easily, is very impulsive and tests us on everything. She is "hyper" and won't sit still, but that is not a problem :0) can't ask her to do something I'm not capable of. She also goes hysterical at times when you try to show her how to do something or tell her no. I have ADHD and my husband has ADD, we have learned to cope with it and lead normal lives without...

Do You Have a Rat as a Pet?

If so do you find it to be a lot of work? Do you find it to be a good pet for young children 6 and under? We have thought about this a lot and know that we cannot/do not want to get a cat or a dog. We have done fish but just are not that fun for children or adult's LOL. We think that having a Rat or a couple of the 3-4" max length rats would be a good choice but want to hear the good/bad about it. also I think that a hamster is to "squishy" for young children so I don't think we will do that. How much do you spend roughly a month on a rat?...

Seeking Suggestions on Housebreaking Beagle Puppy

I just got a baby girl beagle;she is a little over two months old. This is my first dog and I really don't know how to housebreak the dog. I live in an apartment on the 4th floor so I am not sure how to teach her to do "her business" only in the designated area. EX: on the training pads or in the litter box. It is just hard to bring her up and down all the time and it seems that at this stage she might have an accident on the way outside. Any suggestions on how to housebreak and discipline the pup would be greatly appreciated. Thank You

I Have a 3 Year old...enough Said :)

OK, mainly I'm just venting, but of course would love any ideas, input, etc. from those who have or have had 3 year old boys. My biggest frustration is...why in the world does he have to be so difficult with me? The simplest of instruction from me becomes a big issue. "Honey, please come here so I can change your diaper"...."no" (and runs away). I am firm with him, I use positive discipline, rewards, consequences, time outs and anything else I have learned, but it just seems like EVERYTHING little thing is a battle. By noon I've had it. I...
