Acid Mantle (Cream Mixed with Hydrocortisone) - Is It Safe?

I have a 15 month old son who has extremely sensitive skin and had horrible ezcema (sp?) since he was an infant. We found out that it was mostly caused by an allergy to pet dander so we had to give up our pug. Well, we have been using a prescription cream on him called A-Mantle since he was about 6 months old that our Pediatric Allergist prescribed (who is associated with CHOP). This cream is a hydrocortisone mixed with some other type of cream. We use it on him practically every single day (since he still has ezcema). I specifically...

Pregnant and Itchy Allergy Skin

OK, so with each pregnancy my allergies have gotten worse. I didn't use to have ANY allergies, now just being up is a pain. I'm on my 3rd and final pregnancy (and really only have about a month left). I started out with just my legs being itchy, but it was controllable. Now, my arms and belly are itchy. I expect my belly being itchy is just the stretching, but everything else is just unbearable. I've even gotten hives (on my arms, parts of my legs, and now my tummy). I don't know what I am reacting to, maybe the heat, since it seems less...

Wondering If Son Is Allergic:(

My son is 15 months old and since he was born I have been going back and forth between Huggies diapers and Pampers. Really what ever is on sale and if neither I would buy Huggies. Well my problem is about 2 1/2 months ago he started to scratch his upper butt. At times it is really bad that it will bleed. It looks horrible again. Over the last months it seems to get better and then come back. Well right now it is really really bad. I was thinking about it and for the last 3 weeks it has just been huggies I have been using and is seems...

Can Prolonged Use of Hydrocortisone Cream Affect Growth of Child?

Hello moms. My 18 month old boy has chronic eczema since he was 6 months old and have been using a hydrocortisone cream prescribed by our pediatrician. We have been applying this cream, a 2.5% formulation cream since he was an infant with varying degrees of eczema relief. He has needed it on a daily basis and we have been applying it twice a day to his ankles, wrists and behind the knee--the areas that are affected. We also use Aquaphor and pretoleum jelly emollients to relieve his dry skin. We have not asked our pediatrician though...

Allergic to Gummy Flintstones?

Has anyone had a kid that turned out to be allergic to Gummy Flintstone vitamins? My daughter has a BAD peanut allergy plus fish and then milk and eggs to a lesser degree (eczema). The gummy flintstones have a coconut (tree nut) warning. My daughter tested negative to tree nuts. However, after 3 weeks of these vitamins, her eczema was so bad, she was literally scratching little holes in her bend of her elbow, joint at her wrist, back of her knees, etc. I took her off yesterday and switched to regular HARD Flintstones (1/2 a tab as she...

Allergic Reaction to Fabric Bandaids (Ouch) All Help Greedily Accepted!

So with the onset of the pouring rain last week I decided to make a oven dinner last week - but forgot that ovens get hot! So I burned my forearm while grabbing dinner from the oven. Here is where my stupidity comes into play. I know that I had an allergic reaction 20 years ago to the adhesive in fabric bandaids, but they were the only ones I had that were big enough to cover up the leaking burn. So I had my daughter help me put them on (meanwhile she is scolding me to NOT to use the bandages - gotta love the tweenies) Well, just...

Rash or Some Kind of Insect Bite?

I am coming once again with a question pertaining to my 14-month-old-daughter. I noticed the other day she had what appeared to be an insect bite on her leg. When she got up the next morning, it had turned into what appeared to be some kind of bright red rash with small raised bumps. I called the doctor and took her in. The doctor said it looked like some kind of exzyma-type reaction rash, I guess because it was right at her diaper line. She said that something may be irritating her. She gave us a prescription for hydrocortisone cream...
