Wondering About Second Pregnancy...

I am planning on starting to try for a second baby soon (next couple months.) I kinda have a timeline because of insurance issues and previous bedrest (I would like to plan my maybe repeat bedrest for when my mom has the summer off to help with my toddler). SO! Really just wondering how long it took you all to get prenant the second time around? I know it varies for everyone, but just wondering?

What can I do next?

My first 2 kids were not planned, so cant' use them as an example...lol

With number 3 it took us 9 months (but I miscarried). Than it took about 3 months.

I used the Clear Blue Easy Fertility monitor after I miscarried and I got pregant the 2nd month... I highly recommend that!!!! I found out I was ovulating on day 18 and not day 14 like I thought.

I pretty much mentioned it to my husband and got pregnant. You are right though, it depends on your situation. My son was 20 months when we conceived again with my current pregnancy, and I haven't been on oral contraceptives since before being pregnant with him. We also got pregnant right away the first time around. If you are healthy and didn't have trouble trying to conceive the first time, your chances are higher.

All pregnancies I had were from Clomid so maybe it's a different situation. It took one month, one month, about five months. It's really up to God himself because I wanted my second when my first was 18 months and that just didn't happen. I then said that if I don't get pregnant and deliver by October (nephew has a late Oct. birthday and didn't want to clash with his party dates) then I'll wait until the next year so I could have a Fall baby again. I was real disappointed in thinking I just might have to do that because my kids would be farther apart than I desired. Low and behold....#2 was born late September. Good luck to you and I hope your plan does work on your timeline:) If you're into praying I'd do some of that too:)

My first took 8 months. The second (miscarriage) and third pregnancies took 9 months each. We're starting to think about trying again and I'm wondering if we're going to have a wait again, but I'm not going to count on it. Getting pregnant before I am really ready is not a surprise I want! =)

You should track your temperature to find out exactly when you're ovulating to get the best results. Take your temp the same time every morning before you get up; I suggest setting an alarm clock so you are doing it at EXACTLY the same time every day to avoid screwing it up like I did. You can track your temp on fertilityfriend.com to figure out when the best time to try would be.

Good luck!

My first and third pregnancy happened the first month of trying. My second pregnancy took 6 months of trying, although I had two miscarriages during that time. The same thing happened to my friend. She got pregnant easy the first time and it took her a year for the second. Good luck! I hope it happens quickly for you.

First pregnancy was unplanned. Expecting #2 now, got pregnant on my second cycle trying.

I was charting my temp, and cervical position and fluid using Toni Weschler's book Taking Charge of Your Fertility to avoid pregnancy for almost a year, before switching over to charting to achieve. Highly recommend the book for either avoiding or trying.

Good luck!

It really depends on how quickly you got pregnant with the first. I got pregnant with my second and third within the first month of really trying. Before that we were casually trying and figured if we got pregnant, oh well. My first took around 6 months when I went off the pill so the second was much faster for us.

After being on the pill for over 7 years, I got pregnant with the first child during the first week of trying. When he was 2 yrs old, we decided to go off the pill again, and were pregnant with the second within 6 weeks. But there is no normal... Good Luck!
