Whats the Best SunScreen???

We use several different kinds, but I really like the Water Babies brand. I especially like the tube that looks like a big chapstick for putting sunscreen on my daughter's face. It doesn't run or get into her eyes. We have also used the spray on version for the top of her head if she was not wearing a hat. My daughter will be four in a week and is VERY fair, but she has not had a sunburn yet.

I have a 7 yr old twin who has fair skin(unlike my other 3 who got my skin, which hardly burns and tans very easy!!!)and I must be careful with him cause of his fair skin..But the best one so far is the bull frog. It's seem to have worked for me with great results. As he's gotten older it's not as bad but the times he did get burned oh my...Hope you find the best one for you...

The VERY best is bull frog. I knoe it's only 36 spf BUT it works great. They now have it in an aersol so no mess. My babies are very white but they can swim all day and not even get tan from bull frog. I never have to reapply unless we're out for more than 68 hours. But definatley try bullfrog. it's about 8-9 dollars at walmart and you won't be dissapointed.

You have already recieved alot of really good advise. I did want to add one thing. The reasearch that has come out has basically shown that there is no FDA regulation of sunscreen to companies can say just about what they want. The American Suncreen Foundation has endorsed some of the Hawaiin Tropics (a white bottle that is SPF 30) Key words to look for are UVA/UVA Broad spectrum protection. Also the 2 ingredients to look for are Avobenzone and Mexoryl. If a sunscreen says SPF 30 it is talking about UVB protection. The 2 ingredients I listed protect against UVA rays. The only product I have found so far that has Avobenzone is Mary Kay's Sunscreen. I am using for my children the Hawaiian Tropics SPF-30 with moisturizer, it has the American Skin Cancer Foundation seal on it. Also don't pay for anything over SPF-30. Studies have shown that SPF50 or how ever high you can go does not actually improve that quality of the product. The key is reapplying. The other key is that most people do not put enough on. You should apply 1 oz of lotion every time you appy and reappy every 1-2 hours. So the average faimly of 4 shoould go though 4 bottles of Sunscreen during a weekend trip to the beach.

Hope this was helpful even if it was alot of information. I did alot of reasearch since my daughter has her father's skin and just burns, never tans. My son on ther other hand is like me and tan very easily, but all it take is 1 or 2 bad sunburns as a child and there chance for skin cancer quadruples.

You may be interested to know that Consumer Reports just put out an article on the best sunscreens. They have Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Dry-Touch SPF 45 as the #1 product. It is rated with excellence in UVA an UVB protection and only $4.33/bottle. I hope this helps. A. ;o)

We of course use Aveeno Baby for the smallest one. And I use anything that sprays for the older one. As long as it sprays and it has your SPF, you got the best in my opinion. Whoever created the whole spray thing is a GENIUS!!

I just looked at the website on Tonya's comment, and it's very surprising. The two sunscreens I have this year-Coppertone Water Babies and Aveeno Baby, are pretty low on the safety scale because of ingredients that could be harmful. I didn't know sunscreen isn't regulated by the FDA! I thought what I was putting on my babies was perfectly safe!

Arbonne's SPF 30 for babies is by far the greatest. My daughter has really sensitive skin and excema and this product doesnt bother her skin at all. The sunscreen doesnt bead up either. Its all natural w/ no mineral oil (a leading cause to cancer now) and no animal by-products (ground up animal juices found in almost all products out there...yuck I know).
The whole line is awsome and has been the only thing that I can find to clear up my daughters excema (not even the RX's were working) and you wouldn't even know she ever had it now.

I just bought some great stuff from Avon called Bug Guard Plus. It's sunscreen and insect repellant in one. It also comes in disappearing color so you can see where you've applied and where you haven't. It's only SPF 30 but it's DEET free and with all the rain we've had the mosquitos are out in full force and I like not having to mess with both sunscreen and insect repellant. It's in the Skin-So-Soft line which a lot of people are familiar with and like.

I'm partial to Mary Kay products because I'm a consultant but I joined only because I loved the products so much... We've got a great skin care line out for the outdoors! I'd love to tell you more if you'd like. I used it on the beach on vacation last month and it worked wonders on ALL of us! My 2 year old, my husband and inlaws as well as my sun bathing self (is it still sun bathing if you aren't trying to tan...?? Anyways!) It stood the test of all day, salt water, and sand! I definately recomend it!

And if you are less then impressed its 100% satisfaction guaranteed! Whether you've used it for a day a week or a month, doesn't matter. Cool huh? I love this company!

I've been using the Neutrogena sunblock on my girl for quite some time now...love it because it's not very greasy. Here is the latest info from Consumer Reports:

I've not found the "No-Ad" sunblock in stores around here. It's a lot less expensive than the Neutrogena (but probably not as "greaseless" as the Neutrogena). (Greaseless is a factor to me since I put sunblock on my preschooler everyday for school.)

I love Arbonne sunscreens and also their self-tanner. They are among the best products I have ever used. I have very fair skin so consider myself quite the expert on what works and what doesn't!

I honestly haven't found anything I like better than the Arbonne sunscreen. I've tried banana boat baby and that other pink baby one that a lot of people use. They were good, but I kept having to reapply often. I don't have to do that with the Arbonne one. And it's hypo allergenic and all natural, so that's a plus for us too.
