What Do You Do with Your Preteen's Outgrown Namebrand Clothes?

I have a 12 yr old that is growing like a weed. She would only wear Limited II and GAP until she was 10 and since then it is all Abercrombie. She is growing out of these clothes before she wears them out.

I wonder if Plato's Closet is about the same as the shops similar to Once Upon a Child. I felt ripped off at Once Upon a Child because they offered so little and I could see products in worse shape than mine in the store at a higher price. I ended up donating to Goodwill. Plato's advertises that they are looking for the namebrand items but still...if I am going to give the stuff away, I will do so to Goodwill or another charity in need.

Any ideas on re-selling teen clothes in good condition? I have from sizes small (8ish to some 10's) I would just like a fair price where everyone can be happy.

What can I do next?

Kid to Kid at Custer & McDermott, near Albertsons. I haven't been happy with the prices they paid compared to oter kid to kids i have done business with, but its close and they give more for store credit than cash. Or heck I will buy them for my step daughters (ages 6 & 8). email at: ____@____.com

Have you tried EBAY? I buy toddler name brand clothes all the time and even ladies/young adult. I haven't checked out the market for preteen but I bet it is a good one..search Abercrombie, etc. and you can see what things are going for... I can tell you I have searched Abercrombie for my teenage neice and nephew and the prices were still out of my Christmas gift budget so they must not have been too low. Good luck!

Try listing the clothes on Craig's List. My mother-in-law gets all my kids clothes on there and I think it is more of a happy medium. You get more for your clothes than at a resale, and the buyer pays less. Plus you may be helping out a young girl who wants to be stylish but can't afford to but at the store. Hope that helps.

Post them on craigslist or here on Mamasource. My daughter wears 8 - 10 so I'd be interested. Most of her clothes are hand-me-downs or garage sale and she seems to prefer that (so do I!). Just take pictures and be prepared to email them as people inquire.

If they are in good shape then why don't you try selling them on e-bay?

I think Kid to Kid carries clothes up to preteen sizes. There is one in Garland off of 78 and one in Plano off of Parker and Midway. There are other locations, but I'm not sure where. Or just hold on to them for 11 years and I'll buy them for my 7 month old :)

Plato's Closet is opening soon in Frisco, LaPeep Shopping Center. They are open now to buy your clothing, but beware, they are VERY pickey. They will be open for business mid-August.

I like Kid to Kid in Plano and Allen. They give a little better prices than some others. Good luck.

I live in Allen and there is a great resale shop, 2 actually almost side by side...One is called Baby and Beyond the other is The Cotton Closet...They both buy back nice clothes...Baby and Beyond definately buys preteen clothes...check with Cotton Closet, but I'm pretty sure they do too. I frequent their store and have plenty of friend that buy and sell there all the time. Good Luck!
