Too Young for Teeth??

My daughter was that way at 3 months and didn't get her first tooth until 6 months. Every kid is different so just keep an eye on her. If she starts to get real cranky and agitated, you may want to try some teething tablets or some tylenol.

My oldest child was an "early erupter." He started getting teeth when he was just under 4 months old.
He lost his baby teeth sooner than most class mates.

He started getting his wisdom teeth thru when he was 14! We had to get them extracted early...but the benefits were big. He had little pain and swelling...he recovered very quick.
He is now 19 and is having friends get wisdom teeth out now and it's really h*** o* them. The bone tissue is much harder, the recovery is slow and more painful when you are older.

Breastfeeding an "early erupter" was not fun, but there were other benefits later.

Hi, My first child was my son he cut his first tooth at 9mon, my second child my daughter cut her first 2 teeth at 4 mons.! she had a very high fever and had to be taken to the hospital. my 3rd child cut her's at 6mon. if she's doing all of that be ready for the teeth to come. keep Tylenol on hand at all times. good luck.

All kids are different...some babies are even born with teeth, my sister had nightmares while preggo with her 1st that he would be born with a whole set of teeth:)

Just FYI-The frozen teething ring was too cold for a couple of my kids...they really loved alternating warm and cold wash rags instead!
Also, lots of babies suck on their fingers as you describe, including my own, babies just have a natural urge to suck on their hands/fingers...is she a binky baby?

Congrats on the new baby girl! I LOVED the 3 month stage...they are so very adorable and you have gotten into enough a groove with them to really enjoy them and you start to see their individual personality shining thru...:)

Oh, yeah...I forgot to mention, when my kids were actually "cutting" their teething they all got runny noses and a mild fever...something to watch for!

My oldest daughter had her first tooth at about 3 1/2 mths. She started actually teething at about two mths. I had talked to the doctor and they said she was fine some babies just get teeth early. My ob said the had even seen babies born with teeth. The have little rubber brushes that you can put on your finger to massage the gums. Mine loved when I would rub her gums with it. When they are in a lot of pain put some orajel on it and massage the orajel on the gums...GL!

My daughter got her first teeth at between 2.5 and 3 months old. Some babies are born with teeth, and some get them when they are 1 year old. Theres no hard and fast rule!

My daughter got her 1st tooth at 3 1/2 months! She had all 20 teeth by 17 months old (including her "2 year molars"). Your baby is probably getting a tooth! Of course my dr. said "she probably won't get her first tooth until she's around 6 months old." We said "really...well look in her mouth b/c one is there!!" Dr's just use averages, I bet she has a tooth break through soon!

My DD started teething at 2 1/2 months... I can SEE the little buggers in there (and I can feel them under her gums)!!! lol. She is 4 months now, still no tooth... blegh. She HATES the frozen teethers, I just freeze a washcloth and let her chew on that. :)

All four of mine had 2 teeth each by 3 to 3 1/2 months. And they were razor sharp!!! ;-)

Hi, my daugher's first tooth started breaking through at 2 1/2 months, then every month thereafter she got a tooth. She had a mouthful by the time she was 1year. My son, on the other hand is now 7 months with absolutely no teeth and no signs of teething.

My baby girl got her first tooth around 5 months. She 's never had a pacifer and she never really sucked her thumb, but like your baby girl, she will put her fingers or anything in reach in her mouth. There was lots of drool, but other than that no noticeable fever, irritability, sleepless nights, ear pulling, etc. It was pretty painless - for us anyway. By the the time she was about 8 or 9 months, she had 7 teeth. Now, at 1 yr 2 weeks, #8 is coming in. This time around, she's had a runny nose, but I think that was just an old fashioned cold because I wasn't feeling great either. We use the homeopathic teething tablets which she loves. I don't know if they help, but she certainly likes them and it doesn't seem to hurt.

It's not too early. Our son got his first 2 teeth when he was 3 months old and never had a fever.

My twin girls were 1 1/2 months premature, and each had two teeth by 3 months.

My oldest had teeth popping through at 4 months. It's on the early side, but yes, your daugther is teething. Stock up on those bibs.

My little guy is 7 months old and STILL has not gotten a tooth. He leaks like a sieve and is a constant wet slobbery mess. My only suggestion is to have her wear a bib all the time to keep her clothes dry and if you notice any dry spots on her face from the drool put lotion on it.
Also wet washcloths make excellent teething toys. They're not too cold and our little guy goes to town on it for quite a while. Our little guy didn't care for the teething ring, it was just too cold. Born free also makes a nice gum stimulator that our little guy enjoys and is easy for him to handle.

Well all babies are different so you never know. Although most babies at this age get really into munching on things, drooling and become very interested in their own fingers and hands. So many Moms mistake this for teething. Although some babies can start teething a good month or two before any teeth come in. My sister-in-law thought for sure her first son was teething at 3 months and thought any day he would get a tooth well....he didn't get his first tooth until he was 14 months! So yeah she was a little off. lol but I got teeth at 4 months and my daughter got her first teeth at 5 months. So yes it is possible for your baby to be getting teeth soon but most babies don't get their first until around 6 months or so. You can try the frozen ring but most babies that young won't like something that cold in their mouth. As long as she isn't super cranky or running a fever (which they do sometimes when teething) then just let her munch on things and don't worry about it too much.

My son started teething at 4 months with all the signs you mentioned above but his two bottom tooth didn't come out until he was 7 months and now at one year he still only has those two teeth.

Hello, Their first teeth can come in at any age. The fever isn't necessarily caused by teething. It is just that their resistance is low during that time of teething and they can catch things easier. At least that's what my pediatrition told me with mine many years ago. Anyway, she may not run a fever and some babies don't even have the reaction to the pain of teething that others do.

My son was absolutely teething that early. He is 16 months and his 2 year molars are just about through. He had 16 teeth by the time he was 12 months. I agree with the mom, that said the frozen ones are too cold. My son hated it, until I put it in the fridge instead. If your daughter doesn't take to it, you might try the fridge next time! Nothing worked better for my son, then a cold washcloth and teething tablets.

My daughter had a tooth at birth. The rest began to arrive between 3 and 6 months. All my boys teeth also started to come in between 3 and 6 months.

First of all Congratulations.
Teething is to early now but all the same you must try and stop the habit of fingers sucking as this will affect the growth of the teeth. You do get some indication when there are teething like fever loose motions irritations etc.Not to worry its a phase she will be fine my niece used to do the same. they start teething when they are 8 to 10 months.Of course there can be exceptional cases.All the best. take care.

My son got his first teeth at 4 months old and didn't stop teething until 11 months when he had all of his teeth (other than 2 year molars). He got his 2 year molars about 4 months or so before he turned 2. Early teether...

My kids got their first tooth at around 6 months of age. The finger drooling thing started a lot earlier. I thought it was teething too, but their doctors just said it is a developmental stage. Either way, it is hard to tell until the tooth shows up. If she cries incessently or especially if she wakes at night in pain, then I would be more likely to believe it is teeth. I have also heard several times lately that a fever due to teething is a myth. My kids never had a fever with teeth.

My daughter started teething at 4 months. We had no idea, because everything we read said around 9 months or so. Sure enough, 2 teeth poked through on the bottom.

She never had a fever either, so it can happen early.

6 months on my oldest 5 weeks on my youngest. sounds to me like teething.

my son had 2 by 4 months.

My daughter didn't get her first tooth until 11 months, although I swear she was teething since she was 3 months because she also chewed on everything and drooled a lot.

My first son was 11 weeks old when his first tooth popped through. My second son was 20 weeks. They were both early, but I guess it can happen anytime. There have been cases of babies born with a tooth. My brother's little girl didn't get her first tooth until she was 11 months. Just comfort your little sweetie and it'll all work out.

All three of mine had at least 4 teeth by three months. It is a genetic thing that runs in families, I think. Some babies get them early! Some get them late.

If she gets them early, expect her to loose the baby teeth before the other kids do too. Mine all went to kindergarden with some of their permanant teeth poking through gaps, or without any front teeth at all!

Totally within normal limits (which is HUGE when it comes to teeth!)
