Hey moms- any of yall out there purchase a toddler bed from Ikea? We got one and since their sheets/ mattress pad are the only kind that fit on the bed- I'm wondering what you creative moms do instead of buying the sheets from Ikea. The sales lady told me that I could get a twin flat sheet and tuck it in but I'm not sure that would stay in place. Please don't send me any negative comments about my purchase, we spent a lot of money. Thank you!
I'm not sure of the dimensions, but I would venture to find some fabric that I love, measure it as wide and long as the mattress, add 6 inches all around, and cut it, hem it, and sew elastic to the corners (after rounding them a bit) You could try this with a cheapo, old, sheet first just to make sure it works, etc.
This is what I would do, though, so that I knew I could have any sheets I wanted, including velour. :)

You might also be able to utilize the velco tape in creative ways along the bed sides. Or sew some large buttons strategically on the mattress with corresponding button holes or loops on the sheet. That might also help secure everything.
By the way, we only have a bottom sheet and an anti-pee pad on my daughter's toddler bed. She doesn't use a top sheet; she uses just blankets (mainly, 'throw' blankets).
I'm a little late to the game, but just wanted to say that I love our Ikea toddler beds & think they're a great purchase! We have two kids in them, a three and a five year old & I think they'll last awhile (unlike crib-sized toddler beds)-- our petite 27 y/o nanny can actually fit in one! We've used the Ikea 'Len' base sheet with a crib-size quilt until now, but I am in the process of making a duvet cover using PB sheets since I'm not crazy about the Ikea patterns (and put our PB crib-sized quilt on top of that-- not a perfect fit but looks pretty good over a sheet or quilt with cute pattern). I've also come across make-your-own tutorials for sheets and have seen Etsy sellers who do custom-size sheets for $16 (lots of options depending on your craftiness level!).

We got my son a bunk bed from IKEA with the mattress pads and, you are right, they don't fit "standard" sheets very well....most are a little bit big, but there are lots of products out there (i.e. sheet keepers) that can assist in keeping the bit bigger sheets in place. Most of the time, I just tuck mine way deep in under the mattress and haven't had any problems with that being an issue.
I have the iron bed from here and we use twin flat/fitted and just tuck in. You have to coninually tuck- but it looks fine.
Well, I don't know what's wrong with Ikea sheets...we love our Ikea toddler bed. Mistakenly I picked up only one fitted sheet and I alternately use one of our full flat sheets on the mattress. Just tucked it in really well and so far it's not been a problem, even though my daughter is a "wiggler".
I will buy another fitted sheet for the mattress next time I go back to Ikea, really you don't need more than two sheets to alternate...
