We are looking for a toddler bed for my son. He is 14 months now and we are expecting a baby girl April 30. For the first few months, she will be in a bassinet in our room. Then "planning" to transition her to my son's crib, while transitioning him to a toddler bed. I have read that toddler beds are unnecessary, but their bedroom is small and this seems to make the most sense for us. (though we'll have to see how it goes, having them both sleeping in the same room at that point...)
My question, we are looking at the Madison Toddler Bed, from Babies R US. Is anyone familiar with this bed? happy/unhappy with it?

thanks!
Kim

I had the bed and loved it. It was for my lat child so I used the crib mattress which was great. I then passed it on to my Friend who used it for her first ( still using it at almost 4) and will soon use it for her second.
Neither of us had any problems, It works great in a small room.
I think you will love it.
Hope this is helpful,
K.

I have a 3yr old and a 1yr old and I tell EVERYONE I meet that my biggest regret is transitioning my son out of his crib before the baby. There wasn't a jealousy issue or anything, just a sleep issue. He has never gone back to sleeping the way he was before the toddler bed. He loved it and was all for it, but he could get up and get out and it was just all wrong timing for dealing with a new baby (who thankfully sleeps well). So...my advice is this. DON'T take your son out of the crib. Instead, buy an inexpensive crib that transitions to a bed. Check Babies R Us and Ikea and JC Penny. I cannot emphasize this enough. My friend, who did the same thing at the same time, and I talk about this all the time and warn soon-to-be-mommies-of-two about this at the park, in the grocery store and, now, on-line!

Best of luck to you whatever you decide!!

We got my daughter a bed from Ikea that starts out toddler length and then expands into a full twin - saves space but also saves buying a twin bed later on. We have our 4mo sharing with our 22mo, it works pretty well most of the time but I keep them separated at nap time or they really keep each other up.
