Does anyone remember the controversy that started a couple of months ago about the Fisher Price Cuddle and Coo doll? She says many things like gaga and mama and some people say what sounds like "Islam is the light". My 2 year old has been wanting this doll for months and when I made Santa promises to her about the doll I did not realize that this was they doll everyone was talking about. Do you have this doll, what do you think about what it is saying. I dont believe it was programmed to say this, but now that we know it, that is what we hear when we listen to the doll. They were pulled from the shelves for a while but Target always has them in stock now. So does anyone know if this saying has been removed from the doll? Im getting the doll for her regardless, because she loves it and really wants it! I just wanted to know what some other moms thought about this. Thanks!
***I just read online that all future productions of this doll will have that phrase segment removed****

So What Happened?

Well I called Mattel and they assured me that anything on the store shelves now does not have the chip in it that says the phrase. The baby Annabell that 2 people suggested is very cute and has similar motions as this one. It also does much more for just a few more dollars. I think we are going with the annabell doll. thanks for the info!

I just returned the one I bought my daughter because I got another doll on sale after Thanksgiving. The one that we had said "God is the Light". I even held it up to the phone for my husband to hear, and he agreed with me. I didn't mind that it said that, but it was a little creepy to hear it goo goo gaa gaa, Mommy, and then a whole clear phrase. I think the "Islam is the Light" ones had already been taken of the shelf awhile ago. We went with the Baby Annabell doll instead.

As of last weekend my friend's husband had a fit when he heard it say "Islam is the light".....check them carefully. That was at Target. We also bought the Baby Annabell for our girls. I guess if you are not Christian that is fine, but we are Christian and would not purchase this doll.

I haven't heard the doll say that, but I will say that it was creepy as all get out to be in Big Lots looking for a slipcover and walking by a whole shelf of the little things and they all turned on and started making their goo gaa junk at me. A whole shelf at once?! My neck hair stood up. I hate dolls, LOL. (Thank you Lord, that I have a boy).
I wouldn't like it saying that though, to tell the truth. I wouldn't like it saying ANYTHING but mama or cry. Even God is the light (and us, Christians) would upset me....it's just creepy.
