Ok so our ISD has off 9 1/2 days for Thanksgiving... Weird. Anyways my daughter (7) and I are going to take a Road Trip to Chicago!!! AAAAAhhhh. We are going to go halfway and crash for 2 days in Branson Missouri. We are staying a Friday night and Saturday night and driving to Chicago on Sunday morning. So here are the ?s

1. Other than Silver Dollar City what are other must sees in Branson? or must dos?

2. Anything on the way to Branson that we should do or see?

3. Any recommended hotels?

4. While in Chicago what are any must dos (I have friends that live that we are staying with but just want another perspective)

5. On the way back, any other place we should stop and stay at vs Branson.

Thanks!!!! OH and I am driving from Dallas/Fort Worth

**EDIT** I will be in the Schaumburg part of Chicago and I do have AAA discount and the Entertainment book discount

What can I do next?

hot springs arkansas is pretty cool. we did the silver dollar city. branson was hard for us we didn't like it. but that was 20 years ago and we had 2 strollers and a grandmother in a wheelchair so it was physically a hard tip. i have heard the osmonds have a fantastic show so maybe see that. if you go thru st. louis try to make time for the arch its pretty cool. springfield illinois has a lot of great stuff to see and do. when your in chicago are you in chicago proper or out in the suburbs. that will make a difference in what you see / do. if you can take in a play or musical in chicago do it they are always great. if your int he western suburbs let me know I can suggest some stuff out this way.

Schaumburg has a farm, the name totally lost to me right now, that you can take your daughter to. My kids went once when my husband was with them in the area. They loved it. It is run by the Schaumburg Park Dist and is an olden days type working farm. They can tell you all about how the farm would be run in the old days and they do have animals etc. You might find it by googling Schaumburg Park Dist and Farm. It is free. I have never been but my husband even loved it.

One thing that is so much fun is take your daughter to the museums. Chicago has AMAZING ones. The Aquarium, Field Museum, Art museum, Museum of science & industry, Planetarium etc
They're all located downtown Chicago. Millennium Park is ton's of fun too.
There is also Lincoln Park Zoo..
the beach..

All depends..are you going to be IN the city or in a suburb near by??
You can msg me And I can give you TONS of ideas.
I grew up there and miss it sooo much.

since the weather will be unpredictable in Chicago around Thanksgiving, that will be a big factor. Another inside activity is the Childrens Museum at Navy Pier, downtown. Schaumburg is also close to Woodfield Mall, (scores of restaurants and stores to visit and choose from) if you and your daughter like to shop. Also in the area of Schaumburg there is the movies, and an arcade there called Gameworks. Don't forget to stop by Garrett's Popcorn shop if you make it to Downtown Chicago! Enjoy your trip and be safe.

I would highly recommend the Dixie Stampede show in Branson. We went a couple years ago and I'd love to go back and take my 6 year old. We did the dinner and show. Tons of food and very good. Plus everything will be done up for Christmas which always makes it seem more magical!!! Have fun.
