"Seeking Vaccination Advice"

This is my first child and I need to make some decisions on which vaccines my daughter really needs and which ones she doesn't. I've been reading books, listening to what people have said on TV, and reading the pamphlets the doctor gave me. It just seems like so many shots. I tend to be on the natural side when it comes to shots and drugs, by letting things just happen and letting the body work it out. However, I understand that some of the vaccines are necessary. Does anyone have some advice? Thank you!

What can I do next?

Please vaccinate your precious child. If you want to, you can take them a couple at a time and keep returning every week or two until she is up to date, but maybe if you think about it, it's probably easier to just get them done all at once. You can give her tylenol AND motrin beforehand, and put "all better" ice packs on if they get a bit red or swollen, which is common. Maybe Arnica cream would also help. Massaging, moving the legs, keeping the tylenol (up to every 4 hours) and motrin (up to every 6 hours) on board for another dose or two. Letting her take it easy, rewarding her for being brave and taking part in her own wellness. In a day or two, she will have forgotten about it and will be protected from some really NASTY diseases.

Little shots are so much easier to deal with than the diseases they prevent, some of which are still VERY prevalent, and the others are back on the rise, partly because of the hysteria oriented low-curve media's coverage of vaccines. If you'd ever seen a small child suffering with whooping cough, meningitis or tetany you wouldn't hesitate...unless you can control all contact she has with other people - including other unvaccinated children or chance unintentional exposures to these awful preventable diseases (ie grocery stores, disneyland, playgrounds, theaters, swimming pools, water fountains, restaurants, sand, rivers, streets...)

FYI in response to Jennifer C's concerns, measles and mumps are viruses, and not treatable with antibiotics (antibiotics treat bacterial infections such as strep.) Some vaccine preventable diseases may be "treatable" after they have been contracted, but by then the child is already quite ill and damage may have already been done to the hearing (pneumococcus) or nervous system (haemopholus)...Mumps - I've seen an awful death in a young boy, starting with trouble walking and ending in coma. Chicken pox - I've seen it attack the eyes & brain of a beautiful little girl. All seen personally, by me, in recent years here in Ventura County, CA. Doctors would make a lot more money, if that was all they were after, if your child did get one of these illnesses. And, the mercury has been taken out of vaccines - years ago. The studies done were extensive, but you would have to trust those who were dedicated to researching how to end these diseases to believe that. Try the Centers for Disease Control, or the World Health Organization.

There's a great article in the current Rolling Stone magazine about a doctor who now manages Google's charitable funds - he helped to eradicate smallpox in India (and the world) in the '60's-'70's with a huge heart, endless determination...oh and of course, the vaccine. Look at the history of these diseases - polio for instance. Just because you're too young to remember them doesn't mean you're not smart enough to believe what others not long before you have actually experienced.

Thank you for considering my experience and opinion!

you know its ultimately your decision to do it or not. im sure youll get a lot of people say yes yes yes or no no no. all i can say is that i do have my daughter vaccinated at her appointments. at her 2mo she got 3 shots and an oral. and those continued for the next 3 appts i believe. she has never gotten more then 3 shots at a time. my child has only been sick 3 times once with a cold once with some sort of an unknown virus and she had chicken pox (but that has nothing to do with the vaccines your talking about). its true that a lot of things they vaccinate for is rare to catch but its because people are vaccinated. you do know that there are some vaccines that are required by schools and i believe the chicken pox vaccine is one. but then again i think schools may also bypass it if you make the choice not to vaccinate. really talk to your dr and see what they think is best but then again its up to you! good luck!

My sister just had her daughter quarantined because she did not get vaccines and there was a measles outbreak at her school. My sister was so worried that her daughter was going to get sick. I have both my boys vaccinated and wouldn't change especially after listening to my poor sister going through a wait and see game. You may want to check out Dr. Sears book called "the vaccine book" (I think) he gives some recommendations for the most important vaccines. I think this website will let you order it; but, you might want to check the library. http://www.askdrsears.com/thevaccinebook/

This is a touchy subject however I think vaccinations are an essential part to making sure your child has the best opportunity to live a healty life. You can't argue with the drop in disfiguring and fatal diseases from even 30 years ago. What I think can be questioned is how often and how many shots are given. I agree that generationrescue.com is a great site and gives you options instead of fear. Tells you which are critical, which you can delay, and which at the very least you can break up and not have doen all at once. In the end, you have to do what you feel is right but make sure it is based on scientific medical research proven throughout the world, global trends, and not hype/scare tactics.

Hello,

A good resource is generationrescue .com. It fully explains a reasonable schedule w/ what vaccines are really needed. They also suggest you wait until your child is between 18-24 months before you start vaccination.

Hi S. When it comes to vaccinations there are the people that are a definite yes and wont here anything else about it and there are people that will tell you a definite no and wont hear anything else about it. I kind of sit on the fence. I have 3 month old twin boys and we have chosen not to vaccinate at this time. You can only do what you feel is best for them, but when you look at the number of shots they get its just alarming to me. Also when you look at the size of the shot compared to their blood volume its just crazy. I think I read somewhere that the vaccinations they give a baby if they were size proportionate for an adult the shot would be about the size of a liter. My dad is a mentor for autistic children and has asked many parents if they thought their children were born autistic and a lot of them said no and that they didn't start showing signs until after their first MMR shot at 18 months. Also, did you know that France stopped giving infants the Hep B vaccination? Hmmm why do you think they did that? If you get a spare moment look on the internet about vaccinations and SIDS. Perhaps all of what is posted is a scare tactic, but I would rather be safe than sorry...so it was our decision to wait until our children were older and more neurologically mature before introducing such foreign toxins and harmful preservatives.

Just an FYI, if you are working and planning on putting your daughter in daycare, daycares do not have to accept you if your child is not vaccinated.

None of them are necessary! The AMA wants you to believe that they are because of a money and political game they play. NONE of them have ever had long term studies done on them and they are not safe.
I had received so many questions and emails about vaccinations based on my profile that i finally just made an email so here it is:
I'm so glad that you're questioning this. I do not support vaccination as it does NOT equal Immunization. A child is not immune to an illness unless they have it or the NATURAL immunity is passed on during pregnancy. You're right, there is a great deal of controversy out there about these vaccines. The truth comes down to sheep mentality. The school will tell you that you have to vaccinate your child.. why?? BECAUSE THEY RECEIVE ADDITIONAL FUNDING FOR EACH VACCINATED CHILD! Oh ... and so does your doctor! Now does it make sense why they pressure people? Money! Billions of dollars are made off these vaccines.
Also, NONE of them have ever had a longitudinal study done on them. The longest test was 25 DAYS! No test has ever been done on those that are given in a combo shot such as the MMR or the DPT.
Vaccines were all created when the illnesses were on their way out. And most are for illnesses we don't have in our country, not because we are vaccinating, but because we lack the right environment for breeding. Third world countries do, however, contain the right environment for the dieases to flourish. ASK your doctor when the last case of polio that he treated was. Or what about the last case of Hepatitis B in a newborn.
So much of vaccines is illogical. Back to the Hep B vaccine... have you ever wondered WHY they give this at birth when the people who get it are illegal drug users and those with multiple sexual partners? I know for certain my baby was having multiple partners when I wasn't lookin... and he certainly didn't do drugs. And since when did Chicken Pox become Taboo.. I just turned 30 today and when I was a child we threw chicken pox parties so we would all catch it and then become naturally immune! Measles, mumps and Pertussis can all be treated with antibiotics and once the child is over it he/she will never get it again! How beautiful is that? How simple?
Small pox is actually given as the COW Pox virus... they are NOTHING alike! So unless you are raising a little cow... don't bother.
HIV/AIDS was created through the mishandling of one of our vaccines. And now they want to create and HIV vaccine and put it on the mandated list for all 12 year olds. What that means is that we will have an overwhelming population of children infected with HIV. Sound good? I didn't think so.
Vaccines are wrapped in Mercury at a level 30x that which an adult should consume in a month.. all in one shot! And they also are wrapped in formaldehyde, which is a KNOWN cancer causing substance. Ever wonder why we have an increased number of children developing cancer/leukemia?
Although you have a son, take a listen to the gardisil commercial the next time it's on. Listen closely to the wording at the end... it can't protect you from all strains... it MAY not provide protection at all. WHY WOULD WE DO THIS THEN??? Why risk it going awry in our children's bodies for no reason?
Here in San Diego there was a small outbreak of measles. Yes, it started by 3 children who were not vaccinated. They were treated with antibiotics and they are fine now. But WHY did between 12-15 children who came in contact with these 3 develop the measles if they were vaccinated and supposedly immune?
Why was the FLU vaccine said to be completely ineffective? The manufacturers admitted that they made it for the wrong strain.
As a couple of other women stated, you do NOT have to vaccinate to enroll your child. You can fill out the exemption form. There is a HUGE difference between MANDATING a list of vaccines and making something mandatory. The vaccines are only mandated.
Vaccines increase your child's susceptibility to ear infections, asthma, autism, apsperger's, allergies and other maladies.
I have a great book for you as well... The Sanctity of Human Blood: Vaccination is Not Immunization by Tim O'Shea. He also sites his sources so feel free to look them up. I did and I was completely dumbfounded as to how accurate he was.
Feel free to ask me questions! :)
