He Kelly, we also only wanted Irish names. We ended up with Devin and Brendan, but some other faves were Declan and Kieran. Maybe one day I'll get my little girl - her name is already picked out! Delaney Katherine - could it be any more Irish?????

Good Luck.

Some of our friends are naming their son after her grandfather, Jackson Conn. If I recall, he lived in Ireland, owned a pub there, and I believe Conn was technically his last name. :) Either way, I really like it. (Coming from someone Irish myself-maiden name Lynch lol)

Lots of Irish down here on the Irish Riviera! I particularly love the names Ian, Declan and Liam. We have a Brodie and a Daragh/Darah in school which I like a lot. I think Finn is cool. I also like Ryan, Evan, Nolan, Thomas, William and Aidan. Seamus is nice but I prefer Shea. We have Conor, Trevor, Kyle, Sean, Quinn, Rory, Patrick and Brendan in the neighborhood, all nice. My brother's Craig which I think is strong and uncommon without trying to be different. I think I like Kellen.

Don't care for Donovan, Logan, Garrett, Devin and Keegan. Definitely don't like Corey, Cormac, Darren and Cullen!

Good luck!

There have been some great suggestions here. Here's another option: Rowan. My Irish husband has red hair, and we named our son Rowan in part because one book said Rowan means strong and red-headed. (But of course he was born with flaming red hair that went completely blond in a few months!)

We had considered Padraig, or Paddy for short, but my niece said, "You want to name him lumpy pudding?!" We also thought about Rory, but it's hard for me to pronounce. And Rowan has cousins Seamus and Finnegan, or we would have considered those, too.

Good luck!

I love the name Liam, and if I had a boy I would have loved to have named him that, but since my husband is 1/2 irish and 1/2 polish, the last name would have been a polish name and did not seem to fit.

I love the name James. William (Liam for short) is nice. Preston is another one of my favoites. I have a friend who named his son Cian (pronounced Shawn). I also like the names Elliot and Isaac. I tossed around a lot of names when I was pregnant (we didn't find out what we were having) and ultimately had a girl, Sarah. But settled on William for a boy and would call him Will or Liam.

Aidan/Aiden, Cavan (County in Ireland, if that is where your ancestors are from. Mine are.), Dylan, Eamon (pronounced A-mun), Finn, Glen/Glenn, Liam, Neil, Seamus (pronounced Shay-mus), Sean (pronounced Shawn).

I'd take into consideration: what county/ies your family/ies are from, ancestral names - first and last, meanings of the names, what your son makes you think of, what sounds nice with your last name.

Lots of pages. Not sure how accurate it is. It has Braden in the list which is defined as Broad Hillside. In the below book, it is listed as an English name which means Broad Valley.

Baby Names Around The World by Bruce Lansky, Meadowbrook Press

I found another site which has pronunciations and info for meaning. Another meaning for Bradan here.

Congrats on your new upcoming arrival, how exciting! My 2nd son was actually born on St. Patrick's Day so it was a big honor since my husband's family is from Ireland. We named him Owen Patrick. Is that Irish or what? LOL My husband had looked up Irish baby names or baby names of Ireland online where we got the inspiration. Hope that helps

My son is Logan. But here is what I did to decide. We didn't have any good family names for the first name so I got a big baby name book . I had my husband sit down & write down every name that he liked- even if it is just a maybe. I did the same thing. We then exchanged lists & crossed out anything we hated. We ended up with 12 names I then looked up the past couple years to see how popular each name was ( didn't want anything in the top 10). then thought about possible nick names- I loved some names but hated the nick name. After theat we just kept narrowing down one a day till we just knew Logan was it. i liked the list cause it allowed you to get use to a name. I know a lot of people that ask there husband "what about Aaron?" and the spouse answers " no " very quickly without much thought. This worked well for us. Good Luck.

I married an Irish husband and he wanted to pick out the names for our children. I felt that it was important to name our son after his dad and so we named him Patrick and I have come to love the name. But more than that, I have come to realize that for me, it is really nice to name a child after someone in the family. I think it is a great rememberance and honor. Think twice before you name your child. Someday they will come to you and ask you why you named them their name. Be prepared with something better than "it sounded good". Everyone wants to believe that they are special and that they were named for a reason. Just my opinion. Good Luck on your new little one!

Aidan, Liam nice Irish names. Graham and Reid, not Irish, but are also good because they are rarely used so there will not be several boys with the same name in the same school class when the time comes.
