Planning Weekly Meals

Hi moms! I have found that planning my meals for the week alleviates so much frustration throughout the week and really makes grocery shopping go a lot more smooth! Does anyone know of a good (free) web site that helps with organizing weekly meals and maybe provides suggestions for healthy meals? I am working on feeding my family good, healthy meals but am new at the best way to do this since I have always been a very picky eater. I have been much better, especially since my son started eating regular food so that I can be the role model he needs to be a healthy eater. Thanks!

Try www.menus4moms.com. There is a basic menu archive list that is free, or you can pay for the 'busy mom menu' or 'frugal mom menu'. I went thru the basic archive and found several recipes that we have since used. They're great, and fairly easy.

Good luck.

www.e-mealz.com is a great program. They also give you a shopping list every week with the menu, and they have a variety of menus to choose from. The program costs about $2.50 a week. But I think it is well worth it since I hate making menus and shopping lists. They do have samples on their site.

Recipe.com is GREAT! AND FREE :D You can pick recipes, put them in your recipe box, add them to your shopping list and then it will print off the recipes, the nutritional facts, the list (with everything combined) AND any corresponding coupons! It's a great website - with great recipes. I like their quick & easy ones, as well as the slow cooker ones. They even have some recipes you make the night before - saves a ton of time. I like to make two meals in an evening (usually that have similar ingredients) and then it gives me a "night off" the following night :D Best of luck to you!

I had to be very good about this when we were on vacation. I was feeding 6 people and didn't want to throw away food when we left.

Night one, I ordered pizza. While I ordered pizza because we were on vacation, I have found that I can purchase my favorite cheese pizza I can add what ever I want before it goes in the oven. So let's say you used diced onion and green peppers.

Night two, make spaghetti and use the leftover diced onion and peppers.

Night three, make chicken or turkey dish.

Night four, use the leftover chicken or turkey from night three and the leftover cooked pasta and make chicken/turkey pasta salad or pasta bake.

Night five, make hamburgers from the extra ground beef from night two's spaghetti dish, which you froze and thawed out in the frige on night four.

Or something like that!

We plan our weekly meals in advance. I don't use any type of website.

Monday is usually grocery shopping day. On Sunday, I look through the flyers and base a few of the meals on the items that are on sale for that week. In addition, I have a freezer full of items and a stocked pantry since we stock up when there's a good sale.

Robin Miller is a cook on the foodnetwork and I think she provides a grocery list with her meals. Give it a look!

Good luck!

I know that some or Rachel Ray's cookbooks use the same ingredients for a few meals in a row so you can use your leftovers. I'm not good at repurposing leftovers, we end up just having the same meal 2 days in a row! Ha! I've found her stuff helpful. Kraft also had a good site that will give you hundreds of recipes for certain ingredients.
