Hi,
I would like to get feedback from experienced moms that does winter clearance shopping for the kid's clothes for next winter. Is now already too late for this? What are your favorite stores to do this? I'm particularly looking for winter coats/hats/gloves/jeans/boots for the next winter. Are outlet stores better than the mall all the time? Any feedback is appreciated, thanks!

What can I do next?

January is the month to do it, but earlier, like right after new year's is best. I've gotten cheap stuff from Kohl's and Target this year. I got khaki pants from Target, size 4 for $3.24 and a sweatshirt hoodie for the same amount. I got a Winter coat from kohl's, Columbia for $30 and they are usually about $150.

I don't go to any outlet stores, just hit the regular ones and I have a price limit that I'll pay.

If you know you can just go up one size, it's good to do this, but I have gotten burned by someone growing more than I expected.

Now is still a good time to go. I was at Old Navy this past weekend and all their clearance merchandise (kids and adults) is an additional 50% off... Some really good deals there. I also go to Children's Place and Target for good deals.

Good luck,
Aarti.

We went shopping at JC Penny's last weekend and picked up winter coats for our son for next year and the year after for $20/both. They didn't have much left of the winter coats, but I would def. say now is the time. Good luck.

I always shop the seasonal clearance for next year's clothes (winter and summer). I go to Target (I got my son's winter coat for next year for $12) and Carter's and the Children's Place outlet stores. I set a price limit, say $3 for a shirt and $5 for a pair of pants. Every time I go to one of these stores I shop for clothes. Target always has some clothes on clearance, and their everyday sales are sometimes good enough to fit my criteria. Also, resale shops are a good bet for coats and boots. Good luck!

I always go to Target to get winter coats, boots and shoes for the next year. They start their winter clearance the second week of January. Some things may be 30% before then but that's usually when things go to 50% off and a week later they hit 75% off. I talked to someone who works there and all Target stores are not the same. They clearance based on their inventory so if they have a lot of something left, it doesn't get marked down as fast. Also, if you can find someone or you could ask the service desk, ask what days they do their markdowns. The store by me does it on Monday mornings but not all stores do.

Good luck! I've been doing my shopping like that for the last four years and it has saved us a TON of money. I got next coat this year (a $45 coat) for $8 and boots for $2.75!
