Nothing Fits My Child!

Hi Ladies! Ok, so my oldest is 3 and 1/2 and she is a very skinny-mini. We have actually had some health problems with her, but that is luckily coming to end. My question however, is that I can not find pants for her for the life of me! She is very tall for her age, but yet, she only weighs 30 pounds. Size 2T shorts and skirts fit her ok, they are actually a little big, but 2T pants are capri's on her. I need to be buying her size 4T for the length, but when she pulls that size on, they fall right off. Does anyone have any suggestions? I have tried buying pants that are made of elastic, I am telling you those fall off too. With winter coming I need to get her some new pants, but I dont know where to get them. She usually lives in dresses, which is just fine with her, but she can't now that it is starting to get cold. Thank you so much!

the Children's Place has adjustable waist on many of their clothes. They have an elastic band inside that you pull and button until the waist is right.

We love Old Navy pants too. Our daughter is skinny with long legs, and they have a style of jeans that fit her perfectly.

I have a daughter that is 4 years old this Sunday, wears 4T for the length, but is also very slim and weighs 30 pounds. She, too, wears dresses all of the time which is wonderful in terms of fitting. I would suggest buying lots of tights-- it does not get real cold here. I recently discovered that Lands End has a great selection of colors and they are very durable. I ordered some in August for the fall and my daughter insisted on wearing them for 2 days-- so they must have been pretty comfy to insist on tights in August! Gymboree also has a wide selection of leggings with coordinating tops. With my daughter, I have found those work the best for her when needing to wear pants. Also, bib overalls work well too-- I have recently bougth some at Wal-mart and Osh Kosh outlet in Allen. If you sew, you could also take in the waste band on other pants. Here is a link to a website of a wonderful lady that makes beautiful children's clothes-- she could do custom length & waist band size. www.sweetbeedesigns.com Good luck!

My daughter is two and very skinny. She wears a 3t in length but is only about 16 inches in her waist. Go to Old Navy. Almost all of their pants have the adjustable waist. So you can buy a 4t and then pull the waist in so it fits your daughter. That is all my daughter wears! That should fix your problem. I believe that Gap and sometimes Target have the adjustable waist as well.

First of all, congrats on your wedding!! woohoo Second...not sure if this will help, but...My daughter is tall and thin for her age. I always have problems gettting the length, then the waist, hips are way too big. I try and get slim, that does help, but I don't know if they have it in 4ts. Also, the pants with the adjustable waist are helpful. Old Navy, Target, JcPenny are a few that I'm aware of that have the adjustable waist.

Good luck!!!

Oshkosh make adjustable waistbands. I am sure that other brands do this, too, but I only know about Osh Kosh. I picked up some really cute pants (several pairs) for my 3 year old at the outlet in Allen. You can't tell they are adjustable until you look on the inside of the waistband & you'll see buttons and an elastic that you pull through the pants. Good luck!

I have a 2 year old very tall for her age and slim in the waist. I have a friend who makes beautiful girls clothes and she customizes them for you. You just measure them in length and waist and she'll make them fit for you. I LOVE her work and her outfits are some of my most favorites we have. I waiting on a box this week, can't wait to see them. The funnest part is you design them. She has about 200 materials and samples to see on her website. She's very reasonable too, most outfits are about $35 depending on how detailed you get. She has a price list on her website too. Her name is Betsy and her website is Sweetbeedesigns.com. Please tell her that S. Brewer sent you. Look at her site and give her a call, you'll be glad you did!!

Sincerely,

S. Brewer

I'm in the same boat. I have a tall 4 1/2 year old that during the summer wears 2T shorts. He only weights 30 lb also. During the winter I buy 3T or 4t Levis that are the skinny cut. Also Gap, Gymboree and Old Navy all have adjustable wasit bands and that really helps. You can even find nice ones at used stores and try several different brands until you find a cut that works for you. My favroite thing to do is to buy mitten clips and sinch up the waste of pants with them. I works great on jeans with belt loops because they are stretchy enough to allow for independent potty breaks.
Good luck

Hi, I have that problem as well, Just buy some nice tights, like from Hanna Andersson online and put them under dresses and skirts. Pair them with a cute boot and your good to go! No need for pants. Good Luck!
