Newborn BOY Leaking Out of His Diaper and Sick of Changing His Clothes

My son is now 5 years old but when he was a baby I had the same problem. I also have an 8 year old daughter and with her we used huggies supreme but for my son they did not work so believe it or not I tried luvs and they worked great and they are cheap. Hope this helps.

Jacy said part of what I was going to say. I had the WORST problem when my DS was a newborn. He was peeing his clothes, but his diaper would stay dry. Then someone told me to make sure IT was pointed down before fliping the diaper up. WOW! What a differnce! I also had the problem when he would out-grow his previous diaper size. DS was 9lbs at birth, so by 2 weeks, he NEEDED size 1 diapers.

I used Pampers newborn for my son. He weighed 8lbs 3 oz and lost a pound the first week. Even with his weight loss we didn't experience any leaks with Pampers. Later on is when I started having leakage issues, but someone recommended that I probably needed to go up in size. Sure enough she was right. My son is 4 months old now and I just switched him to size 3 diapers.

My son will be 1 month tomorrow & I also had the same exact problem when we first brought him home. I thought he was sweating excessively at first & then I realized it was his diaper leaking. We changed brands of diapers twice along with the size until we found a brand & size that would not leak. In our case it was Huggies stage 1. He was born 9 lbs and has been gaining since so I'm sure we'll be going up a size soon enough.

Hi Lindseay..I too have a 2 1/2 year old girl and I also have a 8 week old newborn. We had the exact same problem with our little boy when we first came home. With my daughter we used swaddlers because they were the only ones that didnt leak..well, I went out and bought a few packages of swaddlers for my ltitle boy. Well, learned very quickly that swaddlers dont seem to work so well for little boys. Sad thing is my neighbor who's son was born a month before me had actually warned me about the swadlers but I didnt listen. Oh well. I paid by changing clothes constantly. We found so far that the only one that seems to work for our son is the huggies newborn gentle care. not the regulars but hte grntle care . It's a burgandy colored bag. Depending on the weight of your baby as long as he fits in it well it should work. My boy was 7lb 10oz and he has a prety long wee wee so it always seemed to be right up at the top right under the umbilical cut out. So the nurse showed me a trick of rolling the diaper under which made like a pocket for the tip of his wee wee to go in and it helped the pee roll back down into the diaper. Also, I noticed when I put the tabs on they had to touch each other in front of his bely to insure a good fit. Too funny that this seems to be a very common problem. Well, good luck!

My son had the exact same problem when he was little! We were trying to use Huggies because they're cheaper at Costco, but he has a shorter body so switching to Pampers was the trick we needed! I think you should just try switching from whatever you're using to a different brand that fits a bit differently. I hope this helps.

I have a son and daughter and the same thing happened with my son, but not my daughter. I finally figured out with my son that he always leaked through Pampers, but not huggies. When he was a newborn he would pee out the sides of the diaper. When I switched to Huggies it never happened again. Make sure you are getting the diaper on tight enough too. When my sold was older I could use Pampers or Huggies and it didn't matter. It just seems like newborn little boys pee differently than girls... hope this helps. :-)

I am not sure if this is the problem, but I have heard from a ton of people not to use Huggies because they leak. Did you try other brands? I found that Pampers and Luvs work best for my kids.
