Hi K., both of my girls go to ABC Peds, and see Dr.Chu. We love him and the office. All the doctors there are great and the nursing staff is just as good. The hours are also unbeatable, they have evening emergency hours and hours on Saturday and Sunday. I love the fact that they relize kids don't always get sick Mon-Fri between the hours of 8 & 5. Good luck

Hi K. and Welcome to Hendersonville!
We used to go to a pediatrician in Asheville because that's where my daughter was born and got assigned to one there but once she got older, we went to Hendersonville Ped. Associates and met Dr. Derek Moss. I have found him quite personable and willing to listen to alternative ways of treating kids other than "drugs" so I would recommend him. My daughter is very healthy due to the supplements we use so we haven't been there but once and that was for a stye on her eyelid. I think you would like him though. ;-)

I took our son to Dr. Bernstein per recommendations on this list and I did not have a good experience. He didn't listen to our input and questions during the appointment, and before we left he basically told me that my two year old was fat and that we need to put him on a low fat diet. (He's two!) Anyway, that piece of his guidance bothered me A LOT as a mother - I don't want to create an eating disorder for my son. My son never eats junk food...we eat an incredibly healthy diet at home.

Anyway, I don't recommend Dr. Bernstein. I found a terrific family doctor for myself and am going to take my son there since he doesn't really require a ped at this point. That said, I have no experience with the other peds in town so it's good that others on this list might have recommendations for you.

FYI - I posted this same question back in Oct in case you want to look at those answers. Not sure if the URL will come through, but here it is...

We use ABC Pediatrics, Dr. Scott Love. I have really enjoyed Dr. Love as well as the other doctors in the practice. I have also heard good things via friends about Asheville MEdicine and Pediatrics, Dr. Josh Bernstein. He's located in South Asheville on Long Shoals Road in the new plaza by Pomodoros. ABC Peds is up off of Hendersonville road by the old Wal-Mart.
Welcome to the area, I hope you will enjoy it as much as I do!

welcome to Asheville! We love ABC Pediatrics - we see Dr. Hope Mustoe, but all of the doctor's are wonderful. They may not be accepting patients right now, so give them a call - they may start accepting new patients in the spring. I have also heard great things about Dr. Carol Long at Mountain Area Pediatrics. Good luck!
