Hello! I'm new to mamasource, so I hope I'm doing this right. We just changed our insurance to my husbands policy. Unfortunately my OBGYN and pediatrician don't take his insurance (Tricare Prime). Is there anyone else in the Northland who has recommendations? I have a list of doctors who take the insurance, but I haven't heard anything about any of them. The pediatricians we chose (because we had to list someone) were Fernando Fernandez and Lorraine Brewer. However, I have a list of all of them in the area, so if anyone has an OBGYN or a pediatrician they love, I can always check my list. Oh, and right now I go to Meyers Fitch and Riojas for me, and Northland Pediatrics for my son.
I would skip Fernando Fernandez if I were you! I was a social worker in the northland for several years. I had to take clients to him sometimes. He was always asking inappropriate questions and was very rude. Honestly in all the years I worked in the northland he is the only doctor that I would NEVER see. Good luck!
I loved the experience I had at Northland OBGYN. They're located in the Doctor's Building at Liberty Hospital. The office is very nice and I hardly ever had to wait to see the doctor. All the physicians there were great for me during my pregnancy with my daughter.
I also love Priority Care Pediatrics (Near 152 and North Oak) although I think they may only be taking newborns now. We see Alejandra Beardman and she's great!

The pediatrician that I take my son to is Dr. Brandon Day at The Liberty Clinic. He is one of about 15 doctors in that office and there are several pediatricians to choose from. We really like him. I do not see an OB/GYN in the northland---I go to Independence and see Dr. Tom Dowd at Hausheer, Braby & Assoc. I have gone there forever and like him so the drive is worth it for me. The one OB in the northland that I hear people rave about id Dr. Patricia Mooney-Smith. I cannot vouch for her personally, but have heard numerous people talk about loving her.

I just wanted to say Welcome to MamaSource!! This is a very great community to be a part of -- My family just recently moved to North Kansas City (2 weeks ago) but as soon as I knew we were moving I began looking up things about KC to help myself become more a part of the area before moving. I can't remember how I stumbled upon MamaSource (a link, an ad or something) but I'm sure glad I did.

I love my OBGYN. Northland OBGYN is who I go to and I prefer to see Dr. Mary Clare Reardon, although all the doctors there are wonderful. For Pediatricians, we go to Dr. Thomas Kelley at Northland Family Care. Both are in Liberty and are wonderful places!
I love both my OBGYN & our Pediatrician. My daughter's Pediatrician is Dr. Storm (Pediatric Care North) and we looove her! Also she has seen Dr. Riddel in that office and she is very nice as well. My OBGYN is Dr. Abney (Northland Women's Health next to St. Luke's Northland) and she's great! I've seen all the Dr.'s in that office (all women) and liked most of them. Good luck choosing!
I have gone to Northland Women's HealthCare for years. Dr Karen Driskell is my OBGYN but all of them are good. They are located on Barry Rd Doctors Building next to St Lukes Northland. Dr Driskell has delivered all three of my children. Pediatric Care North is a good pediatrician office. They are located in a new building on Platte Purchase Dr between 152hwy and Barry Rd. Behind the Target, Kohls strip mall. My kids see Dr Ermalyn Kubart and she is very good. But I have heard good things about all the physicians there as well. I don't know there insurance policies as far as whether or not they take your type of insurance. Good Luck
I used Northland Womens Clinic over by St Lukes Northland for my OBGYN.###-###-####. I loved them and they have delivered all of the babies in my family for the last 10 years. My sons use Pediatric Care North and they have been so wonderful. ###-###-####. We see Dr. Melissa Beard, but have also seen a few of the others and all seem to be great. I hope this Helps. I live in Gladstone and my OBGYN is the best in my opinion as I have had two miscarriages, two children one with special needs and Dr. Morgan had the best bedside manner and compassion I have ever known. Every new mom to be love him and even the guys like him a lot. He is with Heartland Women's Health Clinic located in the Pavalion at North KC Hospital. There are several doctors there and I have had no problem with any one of them. I have been going to him for 17 years. Hope that helps! S. R.

I switch OBGYN several times....until I found the one that I loved! She delicered my second daughter, she is sweet and really nice.
Her name is jessie Holmes and I have seen her at the Shawnee Mission, the Olathe Medical Center and Menorah. Don't know if she is still ther eor somewhere else, but if you have her name on the list...don't hesitate!
Pediatricians....the ones that I liked th emost where form Ov Pk Regional, is a group of pediatricians and the Doctor was Thomas Heaphy (not sure if you write it that way) and then at KU Med West Dr. Paul Brown (we still have him, he is great!).

Try Healthcare for Children - Dr. Hertenstein in Liberty and OBGYN at Liberty Hospital Northland OBGYN, I highly recommend. My friends and I use both clinics and have been very happy with both. The PEDs are great with children and the OBGYN make you feel comfortable with the things you are there to see them about.
We take our girls to Dr. J. Kendall Walker. He is in Liberty which is quite a drive for us but we have known him for years and he is so good with the girls that the drive is worth it. He is actually in Family practise not Peds but he is wonderful. I don't know if they take your insurance but if so, he would be a great choice.
Boo! I too took my kids to Northland Pediatrics (Dr. Jacobs-we LOOOOOOOVE her!) but my husband's insurance is no longer accepted by them. I REALLY wish we could still take our kids there, my son always talks about Dr. Jacobs and how she "makes it better" :) I don't know of any other peds up north, we don't live up there anymore. But I can recommend an OBGYN--Dr. Julie Hartung. She's a family friend and a GREAT doctor, great person. My mom sees her, I would too if we lived closer to there. Hopefully she's on your plan, she's got a huge office and staff to accomodate last minute/same day appointments and such. Good luck!
