My 4.5 month old son sleeps 12 hours a night (through the night) and takes a two hour nap, a 1/2 hour nap, another 2 hour nap, and another 1 hour nap. He is just a kid who needs a lot of sleep. HE is starting to wean off of one of the naps, but he still sleeps about 5 hours during the day and 12 at night. I talked to my doctor about it and he told me not to worry - kids sleep as much or as little as they need.

My daughter was that was whenever she was going through a growth spert. I was concernd until I consulted her doctor who said enjoy and consider yourself blessed as this pattern may very likely change. L.

By 3 months old my daughter was sleeping pattern was very similar to the one your describing. She would sleep about 10hrs at night, take 2 naps during the day which were at least 2 hrs long. She is 2 now, and is still a great sleeper, sleeping 11-12 hrs a night(no waking up) and 1 2hr nap a day. Yeah for me! Enjoy it!

Depending on how long he has been doing it, he could be going through the sleeping portion of a growth spurt. He also could be teething, some kids sleep a lot when teething.

:D relax and know that this will soon change yet again. as soon as you get used to one schedule, there will be another one. but yes, i would say that this sounds like a natural schedule to click into! LOL.
im not sure what you are asking here really...
be grateful he is sleeping so well.. most babies dont and your son might not in a couple of weeks again. :D enjoy it while you can. ! :D

My son's sleep patterns were just like that when he was 4-5 months old. Enjoy it! However, once my son really started teething, there was a period of a couple of months where he was waking up in the night. So, don't be surprised if your baby doesn't stay on this schedule forever.

My 15week old slept 10-12 hrs straight through the night for 10 days, albeit not with the nap pattern yours has. However...she stopped doing it after 10 days, and we are back to 1 feeding at night. Boo. Hope your schedule sticks!

That's what my younger son did starting at 6 months, because I had read "Healthy Sleep Habits, Happy Child" by Marc Weissbluth, and followed his plan. It was wonderful.

Weissbluth says that babies start making their own melatonin at 4 months, so your baby happened upon this great sleeping schedule all on his own!

Isn't it wonderful?

Yes, my oldest daughter would take 2 naps every day and then sleep 12 hours at night. She started this at about 10 weeks old. Then my twins would only take 1 nap and sleep 8-9 hours at night. Each child is different but it is not out of the normal.

Enjoy it and know your are blessed. My 22 month old was like this too and is a WONDERFUL sleeper now. She takes a 2 hour nap in the afternoon and sleeps for 11 hours at night. We have had VERY FEW nights of getting up with her. I hope you the same!
