Has anyone tried acupuncture for morning sickness? Did it work? What "natural" remedies have you tried that worked for you?

What can I do next?

I never really had much morning sickness myself...

BUT when pete was going thru chemo...candied ginger seemed to help.

Many grocery stores carry it...ALL health food stores seem to...

Best!

I had horrible morning sickness my entire pregnancy, except for one blissful week during the beginning of my 3rd trimester.

Some things that helped included: peppermint oil. Use PURE peppermint oil. I was able to find hard candies that were made with real peppermint, and they worked well. Peppermint gum works too.

Ginger. Ginger ale, ginger candies, finger cookies, etc.

Saltines and soda water (or ginger ale... But I tended to lean towards sprite or 7-up because I'm not a huge fan of the flavor if ginger ale...) first thing in the morning... Before getting out of bed, I would nibble on a couple crackers. I had to eat at least 4-5 before my stomach was settled enough to think about breakfast.

Also, a scent satchel. I made bundles with scents I liked. Mine was usually a citrus thing... Lemon and orange peels, with a few drops of oils to boost the scent. I kept them small enough to fit in my pocket. Scents were a huge set-off for me. So it was good to have something on hand to cover up unpleasant smells. ESPECIALLY when going to the grocery store.

ETA: Yes, like Laurie mentioned... Sometimes it was easiest to just give in and throw up instead of fight it.

I had morning sickness every day that I was pregnant. Even while in labor!

Here are the things to try.
Ginger ale, before you get out of bed.

Bland crackers

A cool wash cloth behind your neck.

What I learned?
The ONLY thing that worked for me?

Get up, brush my teeth, throw up, brush my teeth again and go on with my day..

My mom says she was exactly the same.

Nothing but time worked for me. I tried everything except acupuncture. My sister has had acupuncture for nausea and it worked.

Not much helped but meds for the most part. But being as how the Dr's and insurance only will allow 30 pills a month I only had enough to make it through my shifts at work. When I wasn't at work I was able to cope by sucking on candy lemon drops all day.
I got a great plastic measuring bowl with a handle from my sister who also had hyperemesis. It was perfect sized to put one of those grocery store meat/produce bags in as a liner and wide enough to perfectly fit your face in. I know its a gross concept but it was a life saver.

Ginger gum helps with nausea. I took it for sea-sickness as well and it definitely helped. Actually read about it on a pregnancy site. It works for nausea in general. It's available at pharmacies and it's a bit pricy for gum, but it works.

I got these ginger candies at my grocery store in the health food section. The brand name was Gin-Gin. The hard candies to suck on were the only thing that kept me from throwing up at work all the time in the first trimester. At one point they were out of the sucking candies and I bought the chewy ones and sucked on them. They weren't as good but were ok. I highly recommend them. Apparently they're also good for motion sickness, which I get pretty bad, so I'm going to stock up before we go on our next road trip as well.

I have not had acupuncture. I have eaten Ruffles Potato Chips with a small amount of flattened ginger ale for any nausea. I have a huge nausea problem. I tried everything. My PCP has me taking omeprazole after I met a specialist. I was out of the house driving with my daughter. I started having severe nausea. There were no crackers in the store (which really didn't help) she bought Ruffles. So with a small amount of flat ginger ale and a handful of the chips I felt fine. I'm not sure if Ruffles is all natural.

I remember getting some herbal natural type morning sickness pills from the health shop. Nothing medical in them at all - ginger and herbs from what i can remember. They helped a lot with one pregnancy but not so much with one of my others.

Also nibbling on a gingernut biscuit and a sip of ginger ale before even getting out of bed seemed to help :)

I would eat a yogurt and apple before bed . I would also take my prenatal vitamins after . In the morning , I could have bread not crackers. Also, I couldn't drink when I would eat . I would wait about 20 mins then have some water .It really helped . Just keep something small in your stomach at all times. You will find out what your body can handle . Good luck :)
