Maternity Clothes for My Curvy Caboose!

So prior to getting pregnant (I'm only 9weeks) we had been trying for a year. During this time, I slowly gained 20lbs. I am now 5'7 and weigh 160. YIKES. I'm not sure how that crept up on me, but it seems that my inability to get pregnant made me go into a grazing mode & I couldn't stop myself! I'm good at taking off weight, I gained 80lbs with my first pregnancy, so I'm not worried about taking it off later. (And no-thank-you, I don't need a lecture about unhealthy weight gain - I AM healthy, albeit a little fluffy.)

So here's the question - what maternity brands run on the curvy end of the spectrum? I tried to get some shorts at Marshalls & tried on the Large - Ummmm, nope that wasn't happening, they stopped when I got to my caboose. They didn't have anything cute in XL. It looked like the sizes were more of a "junior" size, very slim in the hips, etc.

I don't like the full belly panel, I really like the underbelly for shorts, capris, etc. And a few dresses/skirts that are more of an A Line.
Thanks Mamas!
C.

5'7 and 160 is NOT even chubby. I wore maternity from this "motherhood" store, a great fit. Im 5'8, started pregnancy at 202 lbs and finished, 9 months at 223. I never had to go bigger than a large or xlarge. Maybe you arent trying the things on & think you are bigger than you are?

Girl, I am the same height and weight and an not fat at all! I wear between a size 8 and 10 and anyone who thinks that is fat can stuff it. I gained less than 25 lbs though when I was pregant. I wore a lot of my own clothes for a while that had stretchy waists like yoga pants, dresses, and stretchy tops. After that, I really loved Gap Maternity for nicer things and Old Navy for more everyday items. You can also buy things on sale and just buy a large. BTW, I hated the belly panel but Old Navy makes a yoga pant that you can wear high over your belly like old man pants and they were great!

I'm 6'1 and started out at 180 and doubled to 360 (ugh) with Anime Boobs by the end. Motherhood is where I got all my clothes.

((I actually shop the maternity section regularly for shirts even though I'm close to my original weight (being tall means most shirts, even "tall" shirts from normal stores are belly shirts on me, but maternity shirts are mostly just *longer* huzzah, so I can stand up straight without fear of the dreaded navel flash). It's amazing to me, but you're right, along with the 'skinny' jean craze a lot of clothes, even maternity clothes have gone 'skinny'. Um. Who are they selling these to again? It's going to be hit or miss even from just a year ago.))

Motherhood Maternity has always been the best store for me. Super flattering things and inexpensive. PS I wish I could say I was also 5'7...you're not fat at all :-)
Have fun with the pregnancy! I'm 36 weeks with #3.

I love that word..fluffy. I use it all the time too. =)
I like Old Navy and Motherhood Plus.
I am not sure about the belly panel thing. When I was pregnant I was in scrubs most of the time for work (awww drawstring, you gotta love it), so I just bought a few pairs of jeans, I just folded them down or pulled them all the way up.
Good Luck!

as for shirts. I wore Michael stars.. they cost more, but it felt good to be in a t-shirt that fit but at the same time was actually very cute and stylish.. .. this despite being maternity.. of ALL the shirts I bought, it was the michael stars that I wore the most.. again, they cost more. but even after pregnancy when you still can't fit into regular clothes, you can wear the shirts w/o looking like you are wearing straight up maternity..

best of luck

I loved Japanese Weekend Maternity clothes. They have great underbelly shorts/pants that give you a little support that feels wonderful! I am about your size, and I bought a M (needed larger sizes in other brands, trust me!) and they fit me just fine. They are a bit pricey, but if you search their clearance they are a bit more affordable. I tried some on just for fun in the last trimester of my 2nd, and wished I had found them much sooner! They also have cute styles too!

When I was buying them, Gap Maternity would identify which of their clothes were "curvy" fit.

I bought all my maternity clothes from Sears at Collin Creek Mall. When I got preg I was wearing a 16-18 jean. All the XXL maternity clothes at the little cute stores were tiny! Not sure what size you are in but I still have 3 pair of the maternity jeans and some tops that Im saving to put in a yard sale. If you are interested in them PM me. Oh also try Kid to Kid. It's used, like new childrens items but they also have a maternity section.

Motherhood (in stonebriar) and I also ordered online from Old Navy, Target, and BabyPhat. When pregnant I do gain weight; I'm 5'6 and I went from 145 to 289; but I still looked great. I loved old navy due to maternity capri pants and all the other places kept me in cute tops and dresses.
