Has anyone out there been on letrozole to try to get pregnant? We are about to start this (tonight actually), and I was wondering on the results if any that anyone else has seen on this mecication. Or any other things of concern or comments.

History:
We had tried to get pregnant for a year and after a miscarriage (which turned out to be a molar pregnancy, which means you have all the symptoms of a pregnancy, including the weight gain, but even more rapidly gaining weight, but the only thing growing in you is a clump or grape type things). Then we went on clomid 1 year later, we got pregnant the first month (I did not have any side effects from it), but then had a real miscarriage, but got pregnant 2 weeks after that mis-carriage and now have a healthy wonderful 2 year old boy. I guess the clomid mis-carriage just helped prepare my body for a baby.

We are now at the point of starting Letrozole (which is supposed to be better then clomid). So we are starting over again with fertility and trying to get my son a brother or sister (or 2 :).

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Well we got pregnant the first month on Letrozole (July), but as most of the posts stated, we lost this one (August). I did not have any side effects. We are about to start the letrozole again this month. Wish us luck that this one will work and stick.

HI! I have three boys and I study natural health and healing. I believe the best medicine or poison is food and the things we put in and on our bodies. The best thing you could do is to detox and eat a healthful diet of whole grains fruits and veggies and get rid of all chemicals in your home, there are alternatives to every thing! If you are interested in the natural way and want to detox feel free to e-mail me,I have access to many wonderful products that would be very beneficial in cleansing your body and strengthening your immune system.

I was on Letrozole last summer. We started it in May and it regulated me wonderfully that 1st month and then in June we got pregnant! I have PCOS and it was a miracle for us to even get regulated. I can tell you I didn't like it when I had to take it because it made me so sick but now I wouldn't change it for the world because we have a beautiful 3 month old daughter to love the rest of our lives. I am hoping next time nature just takes over and we don't have to do any drugs but we shall see...

Hi I did use letrazole and loved it. No side effects. I did get pregnant but unfortunately lost the baby (not related to the letrazole though). Lots of women have success with it. Let me know what other questions you have.

Hi T.,

If the Letrozole doesn't work have you considered going an herbal route? We tried unsucessfully for 3 years to get pregnant with Clomid and an IUI. I decided to try herbs called False Unicorn Root and Vitex. Native Americans used FUR in the 1800's for infertily. I heard they would chew on the root. Vitex works like Clomid in that it helps you to ovulate. I tried some other things along with it. I also put my husband on Fertily Blend for men from GNC. I got pregnant after two months on the herbs. With our second one we tried for a year. I went on the herbs again and got pregnant in 1 month. I'm now 6 weeks along.

If you are curious of what all I used please feel free to contact me.

Good Luck to you either way.

I haven't used Letrozole, but did use Clomid (and finally conceived on our 7th cycle). Mostly I just wanted to send you a note of support and best wishes. I hope it works and works quickly for you!

Edited: I see that you'd done clomid before to conceive your son, is there a reason your doctor wanted you to try letrazole instead this time? I've heard that there are far fewer side effects, but the few studies I've seen indicated that while letrazone did a great job of regulating ovulation, it isn't better than clomid in achieving pregnancy. Of course, it all depends on personal circumstances. I was just curious why your doctor wanted you to change treatments. We'll probably be trying for a second child in a few months, and I'm guessing I'll be facing the same circumstances you are.
