JFF: What's Your Job?

I'm a SAHM. LOVE it. My job is to find deals and freebies. Just yesterday after reading a post from another mom I got three months of FREE Cinemax from Directv just by calling and asking. My husband was SO digging it when he got home and "The Hangover" was just starting.

My husband has worked for SC Johnson for almost 14 years. They make all the Windex, Raid and Off! stuff along with Ziplock stuff. (MUCH better than working in a foundry.)

I am a special education facilitator. I get to come up with ways to make education work for kids. My specialty area is blindness and low vision, but I have lots of fun working with kids with all different needs and learning styles. I am a Braille transcriber and love making tactile graphics. I love teaching Braille to kids because it opens up a whole new world to them.
I love my job!
My family is my favorite thing in the world. I also love reading, writing, coaching, music, fishing, and lots of other things to countless to mention.

I am a SAHM. I quit working as soon as I found out I was pregnant. Went back to work when my son was about 6 months old. That lasted about 6 weeks before I decided I wanted to be with him all the time. I have been home ever since. He is now almost 3.5 years old and we also have a nearly 2 year old daughter now.

My hubby works in a factory. Yea...
But he is going to school full time and will be done in about 15 more months. I am so proud of him.

I gave my resignation 2 weeks ago, and today starts my path into full time SAHM. Yay!!!!
My husband is a police officer. We have one 8 yr old son and soon to be joining us will be our 3 1/2 yr old adopted little girl. Hence the reason I quit my job. We decided we didn't want to put her into daycare while I worked, with 2 kiddos, daycare+summer camp for our son+gas to drive all over town= thats all I'd be working for. It made more sense for me to stay home.

I'm a single mom that goes to school in the morning, then I work in the afternoons. Right now I'm a work study in the Registrars office. I do basice grunt work in the office. Today I spent about 3 hours stuffing envelops. That was fun. Lets just say I need more 30 Rock episodes.
But I am going to school for Executive Office Administration, so my job is right up my alley.
My sons dad is kind of in the picture. When ever his job will let him. He works labor at a local print shop. It's a really demanding job so his life is ruled by his work.
I cloth diaper and I recently was looking for a hobby, so a friend and I are starting a local chapter of Cloth Diaper Utah. I'm loving it! This week alone I've helped out 4 friends wanting to try out cloth. I've started a stash just to loan out to people to try for 2 weeks. I'm excited about it!!

I'm active duty Air Force and right now work as a medical technician in the ICU. I'm also a mother to an almost 8 year old princess and am currently 10 weeks pregnant with baby number 2. My husband goes to school full time for a BS in accounting/finance and works (very)part time waiting tables for extra income.

I am a violent crimes analyst. I was also a voice major in college, so I also sing on the side, not as much as I used to though. My hubby is a computer software engineer. We both like our jobs, but our plans are for me to become a SAHM when we have a baby (praying for baby dust). Have a great weekend!

My husband is a geoduck harvester. If you've never seen one, you should take a look http://wdfw.wa.gov/fishing/shellfish/geoduck/graphics/2ge.... They are one of the most...erm...interesting creatures. After they're pulled out of the Sound, they're packed onto planes to be sold overseas where they are eaten and valued as a symbol of virility and wealth. He also has his hands in oyster beds, mussel strings, and the rest of our Puget Sound aquculture industry.

Me? Apart from being a (shell)fish wife, I get to hang out with my kids all day. I am the the head honcho of adventure, and chief of domestic operations.

I am currently working from home. I am working with a couple English professors from one of the local Community Colleges. I am illustrating children's books for them. I have a few of their ideas we are playing with and was given the green light a bit ago to start drawing up a story board for a book idea that I had. I am super excited because drawing has been a hobby and love of mine for a long time.

My dream job and what I am planning to go back to school for once done rearing young children, is becoming a Midwife. Specifically though I want to get set up within the school district and with the counselors and staff helping kids that find themselves starting young families. There is not an actual position ouot there for this yet. I am hoping though with alot of work and dedication I can make it happen. If it is that I will not be allowed to work with in the school system I will practice either out of a Birthing Center.

My husband works for a law firm. He is second head to Human Resources. This job fell into his lap while working for Starbucks. It goes to show that great customer service and a good attitude CAN take you places. I was tickled purple when they offered him a job out of the blue one day. He took it almost on the spot . He didnt turn his back on the Bucks though. He did work both places for a very long time. It just got to the point I was never seeing him.

Hobbies for me are...Painting, gardening, mamapedia:) and hanging out with my kids. They are my ''free range chickens'' as I like to call them:)

I'm a work-at-home mom. I've worked with children for nearly 20 years and currently have an in-home morning preschool program. I'll be teaching until mid-June and then moving into developing a Toilet Learning tutorial for parents and working on a book for parents. Oh, and taking care of the house, the garden, and our son, too. My husband is an IT Guy (not one of the cranky, gruff ones though-- he's got very good people and management skills). He brings in the 'big bucks', ha ha.
We are very fortunate, esp. when I need help with the computer or he is wanting parenting advice.:)

Hobbies? OH, I wish I had time for one. This site gobbles up my time, and I love to write. I'm fortunate-- my life is probably a big extension of my 'hobbies'. Love studying child development, love singing, painting (who cares if it's not great?), cooking, music and playing cribbage with my guy.

I am an administrative assistant in the admissions department of a private school. My husband is a dispatcher for a waste management company (everything from trash trucks to commercial trash, construction trash bins, and recycling)

I work f/t for a publishing company based in CA - I work from home and love it. I have a MA in marketing and currently work as a CRM manager. My hubby was in GIS (geographic info systems - computer mapping) for about 15 years and recently moved to a PL Software developer role at a big bike manufacturing company.

I'm a homeschooling sah-mom.

I'm on hiatus from school (starting back up next spring... yay! LOL... I always had to cock an eyebrow a bit whenever I described myself as a 'student mom'... um... is that like doctors practicing?) I'm triple/quad majoring (have an accidental degree I got by 'padding' my hard courses each quarter with a fun course...aka psychology). So I kinda have a degree I'll never really use, but hey, it brought in full financial aid. My degrees I'm working toward are nursing, fine art, & anthropology/archeology. In art I work mostly in clay/bronze & photography. My "dream job" is to be a professor -community college preferably because the money and the hours are better- who goes out on dig 1 quarter a year, teaches 2 quarters a year, and writes/publishes (no teaching) 1 quarter. Doing double duty as an archeologist & staff nurse while on dig and padding either end of the season by being a nurse with a local NGO. Most digs tend to be back of beyond, and there are usually NGOs or clinics in the same areas. As one might imagine, I'm going to be in school FOR EVER. I've already logged 6 years. By the time I finish, my son will be in school. It works out, though :) Unexpectedly perfectly.

What DID I do before becoming a SAH-Student-Homeschooling-Mom? Gosh.

- Working Student > Horse Trainer (been working with horses professionally since I was 11. Exercise rode racehorses in 7th & 8th grades. Switched into cross country in highschool). Made decent money. Enough to support a horse habit, anyway. Instead of paying to ride/ I got paid to ride. Pretty sweet.

- Writer. I was first published in highschool. I occasionally write for pub now, but I'm not really "planning" on writing for pub again until after my son is either grown up and gone, or a teenager. Writing doesn't pay. One needs honest work when writing for a loooooong time. And the way I write I need blocks of time that just doesn't happen as a mom.

- Line cook/ sautee/ woodfire at an upscale -reservations a few months out type- Italian restaurant (3 years in highschool), where I first picked up my cooking addiction. I'd always loved food, but that's where I learned how to cook. To this day I can only eat at home 2 ways: out of a can or box of cereal... or 'restaurant quality'. Sigh. One of these days I'll figure out a way I can spend less than 4 hours a day cooking.

- United States Marine (oohrah)

- Mercenary (yah, yah "security consultant" or whatever. Mercenary. Mostly running drugs -antibiotics, vaccinations, morphine, etc.- and supplies into out of the way places and a bit of emergency combat med because people typically object to your doing so. A little bit of swimming/ fishing out those who can't swim)

- Bum. (Preferably on a beach. Occasionally by driving until I was sleepy and pulling over. Sometimes by "picking an airplane" and going "there". When you make enough money not to need to work for a few months, that's typically what I did. TOTALLY different from being homeless... which I've also done due to being young, some bad luck, and managing things badly. It's how I fell into the mercenary gig. That and the prior military experience. I needed to eat. Keeping R.'s belly from grousing is a sacred task. I also did runway modeling whenever I needed clothes, but modeling is gig work that only lasts for a day to a few weeks at most, so I'm not really 'counting' it. I only did runway, though. I'm not pretty enough to be a print model.)

- Event coordination in the music industry. Hated it. The only job I've every really hated. Also my shortest stint to date at only 6mo. I swear, I almost died more doing THAT job than any other. If I'd known my husband was a musician before I fell for him I would have dropped him like a hot rock ;) Don't get me wrong; I LOVE music (and my husband)... but the music industry is *vicious* I've known warlords, killers for hire, and drug cartels with more ethics, humanity, and compassion. Check please.

- TA (in microbiology & ceramics) Not doing that currently. Not only am I on hiatus, but I refuse to TA again until I'm a grad student. Undergrad TAs get paid squat for doing the same work grad students do.

Im a sahm and my husband is a truck driver!

I am the CEO of a transport organisation and I love my job. My husband owns a wholesale business and he hates his work! At the moment my hobby is mamapedia lol. I love to swim and scuba. Life is very busy, but if I quit sites like this I would have a lot more free time!

I have been a stay at home M. and had an inhome daycare for 27 years just so I could stay home with our 2 kids. So I guess that was my job. I sew and mend for people, and have done craft fairs and have things in a couple stores. (www.TheBarnBum.com) Sewing is also my hobby and I enjoy making baby quilts to give to CPS so any child who is taken from their home for whatever reason gets a snuggly blanket. I spend most of my time taken care of our grand daughter while M. is at work and school. She keeps me busy and worn out. My husband is a cost specialist/estimator for a large engineering firm. He has traveled a lot for work and enjoys golf when he isnt working. He hopes to retire in a year or so. Im looking forward to him being home more too. (o:

I am a SAHM of one (in a few weeks it'll be two!). I don't usually get paid for it, but I do a lot of graphic design and party planning for friends and family to keep myself busy. I am an artist and I love to paint, but admittedly it is not the most toddler-friendly activity, so I don't do it much now. I haven't sold anything since college, hehe... I just never have the time/forethought to take things to galleries. I also sew, although I am no seamstress... I like to make "crafty" things like baby gear and home decor. I actually make a lot of items that I could sell... hair bows, tutus etc... but I've just never taken the plunge! hrmmm... I should do that LOL!

My husband is a tech expert. We are not wealthy, but we are happy and get by just fine!

I teach AP English (11th grade) and British Literature (12th grade), and we only have one more week of school!!! I love my job, but man am I ready for summer. :)

My husband is the internet director at a Ford dealership. He enjoys his job, but he works long hours. We miss each other a lot, but have a great time whenever we get to spend time together.

I don't have any hobbies that bring in extra income. My hobbies all cost me money. We live on a small farm, and I love being outside playing with my kids (7 and 13) and animals, and also enjoy gardening (flowers).

I'm a SAHM. I was a legal secretary/paralegal for a family law attorney in FL for nearly 10 years before we were blessed with our first child. I quit work 30 days before he was due and have been a SAHM ever since. My husband is an air traffic controller (in a regional center, not in a tower or at an airport) and has really quirky hours, so it really would have been a major scheduling issue for me to continue working once we had kids. And we have never had family nearby to help, not even for the occasional date night out. All that requires paying a sitter, EVERY time. I probably won't go back to work until my kids are able to drive themselves places. Of course, my skills are so far out of date that I'll need to go back to school.

I have been room mom and Boxtops Lady at my kids' schools off and on for years. And have served on the Council and Boards at our church for several years. But generally speaking, I am chief of domestic operations, like someone else mentioned, lol. I love to read and get my hands dirty in the yard. And recently acquired a sewing machine to see if I can make a quilt for my daughter... wish me luck with that. ;)

I am a soon to be case manager/social worker for a youth resource/drop-in center (I start Tuesday, until then I'm a counselor at a Juvenile Detention Facility). I'm a single mom and don't make a lot of money off of what I do, but I make enough to get by at the moment. I'm hoping that I'll actually be able to get up into administration in the next 10 years, which will help.

SAHM of 3! Before becoming a mom I was in insurance sales for State Farm, worst job ever. Not because it was State Farm but the sales aspect and the pressure to sell was terrible. Before that I was an Administrative Assistant to an Executive, which was a really fancy name for a work horse!
My husband is a night shift RN who is trained on all units of the hospital that he works for. He loves his job and so do I because it allows me to stay home and take care of our fun and energetic children.
When they grow up and don't need me to keep an eye on em' 24/7 I don't know what the heck I'm gonna do with myself :)

Oh yeah, nice easy question, neither Troy or I have easy to define jobs. I do accounting, statistics, data analysis, programming, and reporting. Troy does control system programming, design, and implementation. Oh and he repairs them as well.

Yeah, neither of us have real job titles. :-/

I'm a stay at home mom--I never finished my bachelor's degree or had a career before having kids, so i'm very fortunate to not have had to choose between a career and staying home. My hubby is a mechanical engineer at a proton accelerator laboratory. One day I'll return to the job market, but that's probably not any time soon!

I'm in the Navy and work in a Naval Hospital as a Lab Tech. Technically I'm a working mom, but I only work weekend shift, Fri, Sat, and Sun 12 hrs, and I have the whole week off, so I'm basically a SAHM during the week.
My husband is a SAHD now, but was a plumber for many years before that. I have 3 girls, and he has been staying at home since my oldest was a year old. No extra income coming in right now, but hopefully that will change in the next few months. We are getting ready to start the process of flipping a house, so if it does well, that will be some extra income.

I am a Referral Specialist at a Child Care Resource and Referral Agency. I've been there for just over three years now and love my job and co-workers. I work week days from 9 to 5.

My husband is a "Community Living Instructor" for an agency that operates group residential apartments and other programs and services for adults with developmental disabilities. That just means that he works in a residential group home with them. He works 3 to 11 Sunday through Thursday, so he has the kiddos during the day and a friend comes to our house to watch them for the overlap. It most definitely stinks, but we can't afford to have him work days and we can't afford one income (or losing his health insurance).

I don't do anything on the side that I get money for except occassionally selling something on ebay or Craigslist. I'm terrible with Craigslist since I end up giving something away (people ask to pay less or whatever, or they forget to bring money and I want it out of the house, or nobody replies and I get sick of looking at it and list it for free). I enjoy selling on ebay, but usually struggle to find anything other than clothes or shoes I don't wear to sell since I don't keep things I don't like.

My husband is a music fiend and spends hours online reading and writing music reviews, reading about music, shows, genres, etc. I WISH he could get paid for it, but it is just a hobby. His degree is in Medieval History and he's started drafting a novel that I'm bugging him to finish (I want to READ it!!). Whether or not he gets it published, it is something he's always wanted to do and I would not complain if I had a stay-at-home writer husband. Stranger things have happened. :)

I'm a technical writer, business procedure writer and documentation specialist for a large southeastern financial institution. My husband also works for them in their HR department. I work on the side as an editor for an online curriculum company. I love to hike, camp, travel, hit the beach and read. We're both really into live music and music festivals and love integrating our kids into these passions. Wine, darts and craft neers and cheeses also occupy a good deal of time! I love biking with my kids in the bike cart and with the oldest on his own bike. I'm about to finally realize two dreams -learning kiteboarding and paddle boarding. We're also buying two-seater kayaks so we can take the kids -and we love to fish!

I am a veterinarian. I have been employed full-time by both general and emergency practices in the past; currently I am just doing relief work for different practices in the area, so right now it is more part-time/as-needed while my husband has been the main stay-at-home-parent, and I still get lots of time at home with our daughter too.

My husband and I are both research scientists. We were both finishing up our PhDs when my son was born and now we both do research full time, but in slightly different fields.

I am a SAHM. I wish I could do a side job and make a little extra $$. I plan to work part time when my youngest goes to kindergarten in three years. My husband is an intern architect. It is very tough making ends meet. He should get his license in about 1.5 years and hopefully a promotion or at least a good raise.

Im a SAHM, but when i wasn't that i was a vitamin consultant. I also dabble in painting(mostly bar art)--- then murals and art restoration(really fun). I want to become a vegetarian/allergy specialist niche caterer.

I am a SAHM of a two year old little boy. My hubby is an RN and runs an inpatient rehab facility.
My hobbies include sewing, I make all my sons PJ's and I have made some crayon wallets as gifts a few stuffed animals and such. My hubby says I should sell the stuff I make but I don't think it's really good enough yet to actually take someone's money for it:) I also like scrabooking. But I really don't have much time during the day to do this stuff.
When I was working I was a medical office manager and a medical records manager.

I am an Assistant Professor of Sociology at a state university. My partner teaches film studies at the same university. My hobbies are traveling with the family (road-trips!) and gardening...if it ever stops raining! I love my job, but I'm really glad to be on summer break (even if I have to spend the summer prepping for classes and writing articles!).

I am 75% a SAHM, and I work 2 days a week as a telemetry technician (similar to EKG tech, but I analyze patients heart disorders). I spent 6 years in the beauty world, and I still do nails for my friends and family on the side.

My husband is the project manager for a different hospital than where I work, in their information technology department.- aka computer geek.

I am a SAHM. Before my second, I was an elementary teacher for 7 years. I do not bring in any income right now.

my husband and i both work, - he is a courier, and he loves it, and i am an office manager, and i LOVE it. i love having my "team" which feel like my kids in a way (even though some are older than my mom) i am very protective and look out for them. i get to teach and help people, making their lives easier, every single day. love it. we have one wonderful son and i couldn't ask for anything more. life is great :) have a great weekend!

I am SAHM/WAHM and volunteer.

Hubby and I own our company (consulting/brokering/distribution) in raw materials. I do all the bookkeeping, tax filing, payroll, ...anything needed as far as bookkeeping. Manage all travel arrangements, entertainment, etc. We've done this appx 4 yrs. on our own.

Previously, he was in outside sales and I managed his travel while enjoying being home with our daughter.

I substitute teach occasionally, probably bring in about $1000 a month with that. It is fun, I love the children and it is a mental break from all the computer, bookkeeping, etc and keeps me at the top of my game.

I'm also on the board of the cheer boosters for my daughter's school. We are actively fundraising for the upcoming year which means I am on the road selling.

I am mom and here for my daughter anytime she needs me and more.

I am the marketing director for a performing arts center. I love my job but would rather be a SAHM or at least only work part time. My husband is a high school teacher. He teaches music, choir and theatre. He also does vocal coaching for a local talent agent and is a professional church choir singer (and sometime music director).

I'm an attorney, and my husband is a SAHD (has been since our first was 6 months old). My hobby is playing the lottery so I can be a SAHM. :)

I am a SAHM of 3. We live on a farm, so my normal day to day duties exceed the typical sahm's, but I don't consider it to be a job, though it is hard work ;)

My husband, and his family own Cochran's Lumber & Millwork, specializing in reclaimed woods, mostly flooring. It is beautiful stuff, and I am spoiled rotten when it comes to quality, old fashioned wood stuff. My husband is particularly skilled with his hands, so he has quite the long honey~do list. Let's just say he hates when the Pottery Barn catalog comes in the mail!!!

Sunday noon - Friday noon I'm a stay at home mom. Love it. Friday noon to Sunday noon I'm a registered nurse in a pediatric intensive care unit. Rough place to work one you have kiddos of you own.

I am a wekday receptionist and weekend Office Manager at an Assisted Living home as well as a college student. I am currently in college for my bachelors in Secondary English Education. I have a 4yo step-son. I don't get to see him as often as I would like because I work weekends and that is the only time we have him :( My husband is a computer programmer.
My hobbies include reading, writing, and cooking. I LOVE LOVE LOVE to cook.

I've been a SAHM since 1993, loved it when the kids were little, not so much now (they are 12, 15 and 17.) I'm actually taking a bookkeeping/accounting class this fall so I can get some marketable skills! I have a BA degree but it doesn't seem to matter much without recent experience :(
My hubby is a financial advisor and I wouldn't say he loves it, but he mostly enjoys it. It pays well but can be very stressful.
He likes playing golf and basketball. I do Jazzercise, enjoy cooking, reading and music (I love going to concerts, trying to do it more!) I also volunteer a lot with Girl Scouts.
So no, I don't think I can make any money with my hobbies. I would enjoy working for an event planner/caterer but I wouldn't want to start my own business. Maybe someone wants to hire me a a rock music critic? I could dig that!!!

I own an insurance agency and my husband sells Aflac, we share an executive suite in an office building. That being said, we both are rarely there. I have the luxury of being able to help my clients via phone/fax and email so I can work from home, which I am doing now that the kids are out of school. Hubby is constantly on the road (not really lovin the gas prices right now!!). My hobbies are reading and I'm "attempting" to make bead bracelets. Hubby loves being home with me and the kids but he does watch an occasional game but he doesn't really have a "hobby" per se. I love that our businesses allow us to have whatever schedule we need. We never miss any of the kids field trips or events, programs, etc. We are really lucky and blessed and we know it! :o)

I work full-time as an IT Analyst. I sell stuff on Ebay occassionally for extra money.

My husband is a SAHD. He has been since our daughter was born. He also runs a computer company out of our home (computer repair, websites, etc).

I was a SAHM of four also :) My baby is in first grade this year. I started working in my fathers art studio. I do sales and office management. I get to pick my hours and make sure that i am still here for the kids when they get home. My husband works in credit card fraud.

Currently...I am a SAHM...I learned that acronym here. I prefer Domestic Goddess coined by a famous comedian. I have a small, yet to make a profit, but saves us oodles of shopping, time and money..bath salt business. I buys salts from around the world and mix with amazing botanicals and voila! have a fantastic bath salt product I give out all year and the holiday's. I do receive lots of orders. But I don't charge enough.

I have a degree in German Lit & Language and a minor in Music Theory/Piano. I was an communications officer in the US Army before kids, then worked FT for a major defense company in the international radar systems division, where I used both my German and army logistics background. I used to teach piano and play for local choirs...but that slipped by the wayside after moving too much.

My hubs is a Pediatric Neurologist, a Div Chief at a major children's hospital. He also has a world renowned laboratory with several Post-Docs where they do cutting edge research primarily in the field of epilepsy. He is very diplomatic, and polished and professional and I am less so.
