Mom's I need help! How do I get poo out of the carpet and stuffed animals, as well as the smell out of the matress?!? My son decided to change his diaper while he was supposed to be napping. He must have gotten distracted by what was inside because he pulled out all of his toys and played in it; then jumped back in bed when he heard me coming. most of the stuffed animals are not machine washable, and Im at a loss. I think im too grossed out and upset to think clearly. He actually looked at my face and said..."mommy...elax..calm down..don't cry mommy." I was holding my breath and counting to ten, and had to walk out because I lost count. HELP PLEASE!!!

So What Happened?

Turns out all of the stuffed animals were the one's that "guard" his bed at night, so i used the sweater bag and washed them. They all came out fine. I also sent my hubby to pick up Pet Cleaner on his way home from work, which he ended up bringing home pet spot remover by ChemDry. It worked wonders. Im thinking tighter pants or something he can't take off with his diaper at nap time. He doesn't wear diapers anymore except for when he's sleeping, and I swear he holds it till I say goodnight. We do "try" before we go to bed, but I think maybe he's holding out on me, as he always goes the minute he gets a diaper on. Which is weird because he goes in the potty during the day. Im going to have to find some way to out maneuver him.

Even though stuffed animals may say wipe with a damp cloth the do fine in the washing machine, and considering what is on them it is worth the risk. I would use carpet cleaner on the rug and matress then cover it with a new pad. One that is machine washable and water proof. The smell will fade if it dosn't come out right away after cleaning.
Best of Luck.

I don't really have any suggestions. I just have to share your pain. I have an 18 month old houdini who can get out of any clothes I put on her.. footed zip up snap up pajamas, even with the snaps in the back..tights, shoes, overalls, you name it...off it comes... and after just about every nap or in the morning I come in to a happy laughing naked baby. I hug her when it's just pee, I go ballistic when she has finger painted. I have thrown away all the stuffed animals and anything else that was too disgusting for me. Luckily we have hardwood floors in there. She now sleeps on just the mattress (waterproof mattress so everything wipes off) without any sheets or anything because I can't handle it anymore. Everything gets wiped down with antibacterial wipes that can be. Anything else gets tossed. So I say toss the animals and everything else and just hope that this is your first and last time unlike what I go through daily! If it turns into a constant thing, take everything out of his reach right away!

You know I would just wash the stuffed animals. I put all of ours into a sweater bag and they come out just fine. The carpet I'd us resolve carpet cleaner or I wonder if vinegar would work. Same with the mattress. Then use a lot of febreeze. You will laugh about this, eventually.

Maybe it's a blessing in disguise, like he's ready to toilet-train.

I went through the ground-in poo situation with my daughter when she was training. I told her to come and tell me if she has poopies - before, during, after, didn't matter, just as long as she told Daddy or me. Well, you can imagine what got tracked through the apartment when she came to tell me after she pooped on the floor. (I think my husband has PTSD from the trampoline incident, LOL). The books and her beanbag chair, those got tossed. I wasn't even gonna try to clean them up. Hardwood floors, I wiped with paper towels and Murphy's Oil soap. Area rugs and upholstery got treated with Nature's Miracle - an enzyme used to take cat pee out of furniture. It does the trick with human waste just as well if not better.

Good luck!

First of all, that is so funny and cute what your son said to you! They say the craziest things...and they actually make sense sometimes! You have a cutie on your hands

Sorry, but my advise is toss the stuffed animals...poops contain very dangerous bacteria (e-coli) which can cause not only pink eye, but many more illnesses. As far as the mattress, rent a steam cleaner and power clean it.

I was going to suggest a onesie as well. Thankfully I never experienced anything like this but I do hear it more and more.

Glad you got everything cleaned up. I would have puked on top of it. Very sensitive gag reflex these days.

Hi There!

Put the stuffed animals in garmet/lingerie mesh bags and throw them in the washing machine.....the bags will protect them I have thrown in so many "non-washable" toys. Also, Handi-Wipes work wonders! They disinfect and are safe to use on toys, carpet, and mattresses! Good Luck....and all kids do this at least once!

Hi, one more thing, if you could put a onesie on underneath his pants, that might be good. Unless you have houdinie like the other Mom!

The best of luck to you!

I wash my son's stuffed toys from time to timw on the delicate cycle and add a little Lysol to dissenfect all bacteria and germs. We had a similar accident in our household and was advised to use Odor-Ban which works wonders. We also use it for the bathrooms, basement and most odor areas in the home. (we use the Eucalapytus brand) which can be found at Sam's Club. I dont know what we would do without Odor-Ban.

On a different note ladies; doesn't it seem like it's usually the boy's that get into these messes. God Bless our little boys.

Oooh- yuk! I'm so sorry! What you need is a spray product for "pet stains", also known as dog poo! Most places have several types, and it's great stuff for cleaning up after my dog barfs or poops, but also was invaluable when my kids were little and has "accidents" or vomited on the rug! It has digestive enzymes in it, and will really deodorize as well as get the stain out. Look at Petsmart or Walmart in the pet section if you have a hard time find it. Good Luck to you! -N.
