Double Stroller Recommendations - Medway,MA

We are in the market for a double stroller. Currently have a 21 month old now, and are expecting #2 in May 2010. So, my daughter will be 26 mos. when the baby arrives. I need a stroller that can accomodate an infant car seat and a 2 year old. I would like to have the option for her to sit in a seat rather than a stand or "jump seat" type option. She's a bit of a wild child so containing her in an actual seat makes errands much easier. She also is very curious so I want a stroller where she still gets a view of the world, rather than just being stuck behind the baby which I don't think she'll tolerate. And, finally, we already have a Chicco Key Fit infant car seat (which she used) that I would like to use for #2 so I'm hoping to find a stroller that is compatible. Of course, the usual, easy to carry, easy to fold, good steering (I hear 3 wheels are better than 4 for good steering??), etc are all important too. Now, with all those limitations, any recommendations out there?? Thanks!

We love our Phil and Ted's - it's more money but worth it.

Our baby car seat Graco)completely fit in the rear seat when the baby was an infant.

We receive rave reviews on it wherever we go - unique design, easy maneuvering (3 wheels), light, easy to use. I was adamant about NOT getting a tandem stroller or typical side by side since I've seen the struggles with moving those around in a store every time I shop - from opening door struggles to maneuvering among the racks/aisles! This stroller is a great alternative. I suggest buying the saddle bags so you have space to store your stuff when you have two kids occupying the seats. With one kid, there is ample room for storage. I also suggest the bar to accommodate the baby car seat when you only have one child to cart around.

Good luck with your search. There are oodles of options - but I did my research when I was pregnant with baby #2 and have never regretted this purchase. It was well worth the money!!!!!!!!

I second the BOB suggestion! My only wish is that I bought it sooner. Initially, I bought a Graco Quattro Duo stroller because I didn't want to spend more than 300 dollars. I am not a big fan. It is very long (felt like I was pushing a minivan) and it is very heavy to push (esp. with two kids in it). I finally broke down at the end of the summer and purchased the BOB double stroller. It is absolute HEAVEN!!! The kids love it it and it is soooo unbelievable easy to push. It is extremely light even when the kids are in it. I pushed it right through the soft sand at the beach! It is pricey but without a doubt worth the money. My older daughter is almost 2.5, I am just praying she'll sit in it next summer. Congrats on the baby on the way!

It's the Baby Trend Double...sit and stand.

My son will be 23 months in March when our baby #2 is due...so we have the same requirements as you do.

I liked this stroller b/c is is lightweight and easy to manuever (i tried it out in the store). It accomodates baby car seats, has two regular kid seats, and the one closest to you also removes to make a "stand" for your older child.

I didn't get to fold it up, so I don't know how compact it gets (though i doubt ANY double stroller gets very small) and it has a smaller basket than the stroller we currently have, which is practically like an SUV! lol

I am in the same boat - looking for a double stroller that will work for us this July. My son will be 23 months when our second is born. We already purchased the Eddie Bauer Deluxe travel system and are looking to sell that to buy the Joovy Caboose Ultra-Lightweight stroller. It has an array of compatibility with different infant car seats as well. We also need an option for my son so that he can sit or stand when he wants. This stroller allows the baby to be in the infant car seat and my toddler to be in his seat at the same time! My husband and I have been researching a lot lately and it seems like this will be our choice:

Good Luck to you!

If you think yo will use it for a while and are willing to spend a little extra, I highly recommend the BOB. I wish we got it as our first stroller, we spent so much on strollers over the years. I love the BOB. It is easy to maneuver and not super bulky. You will need an attachment bar to fit the carseat, but you can then use it as a snack bar I believe.

Just in case it's still under consideration, I do not recommend the baby trend sit 'n' stand if you have a runner. The older child can easily get out when standing and it's very difficult to strap them in (plus, then they're facing you). It has actually been an awesome stroller for us, but my older son is very ...obedient? OK, probably until today since I wrote that. He has on occassion busted free from me though.

I have children 15 months apart. I have the Baby Trend sit and stand delux. I put my older child in the front in the regular stroller seat for the first 8 months or so. While my older child was in the front seat, the baby was in the back in his car seat carrier (the jump seat is also the place for the infant carrier to lock in). Later, I moved my older child to the jump seat in the back (which has buckles to keep her seated) and put my little one in the stroller seat in the front. It worked well for us.

The Baby Trend one that we have was well priced, easy to fold (although doesn't fold up to be very small...not sure if any do), and easy to steer.

Judging from your children's ages, if you spend the money on an expensive double stroller, you won't get to use it for very long because your daughter is getting older. She may seem young to you now, but once the new baby comes, she will seem so much older!

We also have a side-by-side jogging stroller for when we go for walks/exercise for me.

Hi, we had our 2nd when our first was 17 months old. We also have the Chicco Key Fit carseat. For a double stroller, we went with the Kolcraft Contours double stroller. It is a little heavy but all the double stroller are. You can fit the carseat in it and it is the only one we could find that could accomodate this carseat. I did hear that Chicco was coming out with a double stoller but it wasn't available last spring when I had my baby. We love this stroller though; you can put the carseat in it but when the baby is big enough, you can use the second seat instead. The baby sits in back. I didn't like the side by side strollers; they seem so wide, but that's a personal choice. One feature we love is that both seats can face either front or back. And it rides really nice, turns well. Hope that helps.
