My 2 year old has diaper rash!! Do you have any favorite remedies I can use.... the airing out that we have done when he was a baby isn't really possible now that he's a toddler. I have been putting Balmex on it but I don't think it's doing anything.

Thanks...

So What Happened?

I've been using Triple Paste on it since yesterday morning and it's almost gone! That stuff is great... will definitely keep it on hand and give it in baby shower basket gifts. I got the small tube for about $7. Not as expensive as the tub, and we probably won't use it very often so it's not a bad price.

Boudreaux's butt paste is good in a rash that is not too bad but for something really hardcore I found Resinol works wonders on any rash!It works fast too.
I had to special order it from Walmart and it's great stuff. I use it on all of us.

Triple Paste is the best...its the only thing i use! My two year old even asks for it when her bottom is red...you can get it at target or walgreens.

What always worked for me was no wipes at all, use a damp wash cloth to clean diaper area and smother with AQUAFOR ALL THE WAY and AVENO diaper cream which works wonders and will never use anything else.

Good Luck to you.

Hi,

Both of my kids have had diaper rash so bad I prayed for their rear ends! Ha! The two creams that have worked the best are Dr. Smith's Diaper Cream and Boudreaux's Butt Paste. (Sometimes it helps to alternate.) The one that has worked more times than not is Dr. Smith's. You can find it in the Soap/Baby Needs aisle near the pharmacy at Walmart. For some strange reason Walmart does NOT stock it over in the baby section, too. It's about $7 a jar, but worth every penny.

You may even want to try using a different brand of diaper. Huggies worked for my son, but not my daughter. Only Pampers worked for her. The cheaper brands made them "break out" worse.

Good luck,
Holly M.

Arbonne's ABC diaper rash cream is the best! I have tried other stuff, but nothing else goes on my son's bottom because it's shown to be better than anything else we tried. You can purchase it online and have it shipped right to you or contact me, and I can get you some asap because that's something I keep on hand. I have someone asking for it about once ever other week!

I've always used Desitin with my kids and it seems to work like magic. But a few months back my daughter got a really bad case of diaper rash that wouldn't go away - no matter how much Desitin I covered her with. I had heard about Boudreaux's Butt Paste before but never tried it. So I figured might as well and it worked GREAT. You can find it at Target or Walmart and it's right around the same price as all the other ointments.

I agree... Boudreaux's butt paste - hands down is the best (plus I love the name).

Boudreaux's butt paste hands down is the best - in my opinion. I wouldn't use anything else.

Hi T.--

Just a little piece of info--- if the creams don't work, you might want to take he to the pedi. She could have a yeast infection, which needs an RX. My 3 yr old had that about 4 mo ago. Just a thought.

My eldest daughter had a "rash" that wouldn't go away; it turned out to be a yeast infection. You should definitely take him to see his doctor. Also, I know he's a toddler, but your baby is hurting...let him "air out" and just be ready to clean up the pee pee stains.

Try Aquaphor - they use it in most NICU's. Also, with my first I had a very stubborn rash that Triple Paste worked on - very expensive but worth it. If it is very red - it may be a yeast infection (just use some OTC yeast infection cream)and if it looks like it is peeling it may be eczema. Ask your pedi if lasts for a while.

One more possibility - my sister's daughter had a terrible diaper rash that wouldn't go away and it turns out she had a strep rash - I didn't even know that such a thing existed, but if nothing else works I would take him to your pedi.

we use Dr. Smith's to get rid of BAD diaper rash.

Boudreaux's butt paste to prevent diaper rash or get rid of a normal case of diaper rash.

What always worked for us, was taking baths w/ baking soda and putting aquafor on her bum. Don't use any kind of wipes b/c the alcohol can sting. Use washcloths w/ warm water after a bm.

Dr Phil suggested on one of his showes Antibotic like neosporin but we tried good old powder on a child her mom came up with. They quit using it because they thought it could cause cancer in infants. But I would ask your nurse. The powder did work. Also the mom got a sauve that the doctor gave her for yeast. That is what caused her bumps that were caused from being damp. G. W The meds were costly
