Hello everyone!

Hope y'all had a wonderful Christmas weekend.

I have been searching for good wooden toys, especially cars and building blocks for my 2 year old son. Basically i want to replace as many plastic toys and cars as possible, after learning about the lead recalls and phthalate concerns.

I am looking for wooden cars, trucks, building blocks and other toys for young boys, preferably no color paint (or non-toxic color if present). Does anyone know of a good store in Dallas area which has such toys? Any particular brands that I should stick to and any brands to avoid?

Thanks in advance.

What can I do next?

You can search this company's website by item to find retailers near you. They are a manufacturer and don't sell directly to the public, but a lot of local stores carry their items.

I carry Melissa and Doug toys at my natural baby store, Babies Bottoms and More. They're not on the website (www.babiesbottomsandmore.com) because wooden toys are so heavy to ship I prefer to only sell them locally but I do have a few of their best sellers in stock, and I can order anything on their website for you.

We also got almost all of our kids' Christmas presents from Melissa and Doug this year. They are educational, good -quality toys and they stand behind their product 100%. Their website is www.melissaanddoug.com

When my kids where younger I took them to the Home Depot and Lowes kids work shops and they got to make their own wooden toys. I did this even when they where very young, I would sit them in my lap, holding their hand in mine I assist them in assembling the toy. Great learning experience plus free wood toys. Home Depot does this the first Saturday of every month, Lowes does it more often you will have to check their web site for dates.
