Hi Everyone...
I was just wondering, does anyone have an suggestions on a good bubble bath?? For me and also any good ones for little ones as well.
I am nervous to try any because of the risk of getting a UTI. And I sure wouldn't want one of my girls to get one either. So just wondering if anyone knew of any for adults and children that were not harsh...
Thanks in advance for your help! ;)

For my daughter's baths, I take a little bit of the baby wash and put it into the tub under the water like bubble bath, and it foams up like bubble bath and is gentle on their skin. I always use Johnson's baby wash in my own bath tub as bubble bath, and I absolutely LOVE it, it leaves my skin feeling so soft. Johnson's baby wash made my oldest daughter break out, so since we had about ten bottles I started using it, and it is wonderful! Hope this helps.

California Baby has a safe bubble bath. You can get it at Target, whole foods and on-line (for more scents). We use it and we love it!

I would do bubbles in the back yard and take a plain bath in the tub! Boys can get uti's just as easy as gals in the tub. I don't think that benefit outweighs the risk here.

I have used the old standby, "MR. BUBBLE". I use the one for Sensitive Skin. I used it, when I was growing up, and I have used it for my daughter (and myself), since she was 2 years old. She is now 11 years old, and we both, still use it. I have had no problems with it, at all.

Hi J.!

Arbonne has a great bubble bath called Unwind. I use it for myself as well as for my daughter and two sons and we have never had a problem. It is 100% natural with no chemicals or artificial fragrances that can be harmful. It also has lavender in it that is very calming and helps the kids to relax before bedtime. Use only a pure natural bubble bath and stay away from the chemicals. Child's bubble bath is the worst. For my girls I used Shaklee and this is the only one that I could use. I also used the basic H for bubble bath and never had any more problems with the uti. I am a mother of 5 (4 girls and 1 son)and grandmother of 9. I still use Shaklee products.

Well, I came here for recommendations for bubble bath for my daughters, and little did I know. I just read that the Mayo Clinic online recommends, "Avoid bubble bath and scented soaps" for infants, emedicine provides more information than I wanted to know for this stage of my daughters' development, and Johnson's Baby Bubble bath, while they indicate, their product is "dermatologist and pediatrician tested formula is gentle enough to use everyday", they responsibly indicate, "Excessive use or prolonged exposure may cause irritation to skin and urinary tract" (I wish their doctor told me about this).

Given this new awareness, I think I will opt for the Johnson and Johnson product and avoid "excessive" use or use other natural products found at health food stores. Given what I read, it is particularly important to stay away from the chemicals that can harm the skin of children. Hmmm, and to think I was just looking for product that made a lot of bubbles. I have a lot to learn!

Hi J., I, myself am not much of a bather, I prefer showers. But, for my 4 year old daughter I always use dish detergent because it is very gentle. When she was about 2, I tried bubble bath and she complained her privates hurt. She did not have internal pain as with a UTI, but her outer private area became red and irritated. This has not happened one time with dish detergent!

I use Dr. Bronner's magic soap for my daughter. It's all natural, no chemicals. I just squirt some into her bath under the running water and we get lots of bubbles. I believe it even comes in an unscented formula, or maybe even a baby formula, I can't remember. You can get it at Target, Meijer, or even Trader Joe's. Probably Whole Foods as well.

Hmm...I've never heard of getting a UTI from bubble bath, a yeast infection possibly, but neither have happened to me before and I always use bubble bath, I just use whatever smells good. If you are worried about sensitive skin, I believe Summer's Eve makes a bubble bath formulated for women in the personal hygiene area of the store.

I have always had good luck with Avon's kids bubble bath. It smells nice and is gentle on their skin. I have never tried Shaklee, but love all of their other products. It is a good place to start, since it is all natural. The biggest thing I personally want from a bubble bath, is a pleasing fragrance, but it can't be so strong that it irritates your body in any way. Good luck.

I have to go with the old standby - Mr. Bubble. My mom had very sensitive skin and that was all she would ever use while I was growing up. It's what I now use with my kids and usually for myself too.

I don't use bubble bath because it is drying to the skin. You are better of to use dead sea salts. Wash with a naturally moisturizing soap bar. Make sure to totally rinse off before drying your self. (This will sound funny) but if you feel your vaginal area needs extra drying use a hair dryer on the cool setting. I got that suggestion from my doctor regarding yeast infections.
As far as UTI, You have to get the virus to cause the infection. How would you get a UTI in your own clean bath tub. Now public hot tubs and pools are a different story.

Just my opinion.

I've been dabbling in Shaklee products and love everything I've tried so far but am not sure if they carry bubble bath products. They have very safe products. The company has been around for 50 years.

Arbonne has a great baby line and it smells really good. I just tied their samples for my 11 year old because his skin was bothering him. I know it's all botanically based and safe as well.

Use only organic products. You don't have to use the really expensive name brand products listed in some of the other posts. If you have a Whole Foods near you, try that first. They have an aisle of bath items. If not, try a Health store. You can also try looking on-line.

Dear J.,

I found the best all natural bubble bath for my daughter at Whole Foods, it is made by the Rainbow Company--I first used a detangler by that company & loved it(it smells great!) I use it for my hair too! Then I tried the bubble bath & when I run out of baby soap I am going to try theirs, hope you like it if you try it!

I, too, have used Arbonne - they have a great hair and body wash for babies/kids that doubles as a good bubble bath with no chemicals or fragrances. The unwind (or any of the arromassentials) is good too. I have also heard great things about Miessence, which is a certified organic company. You may want to check out www.oyinhandmade.com too - they have great natural, organic stuff, including bath products. Their deodorant (funk butter?) is THE BEST!

There is a body of research that states that bubble baths are not good ideas for young girls. I just read something about it the other day, and I wish I could remember where. I will look for it and get back to you with the source. For right now, I would use baby bath, if anything.

I'll get back to you.

We use the Burt's Bees bubble bath with my son, but not all the time. For myself, I prefer bath salts to bubble bath in general. The Body Shop makes nice bubble baths, and for the salts I really like the ones that Aveda makes, but there are other nice ones too. The salts are a lot less harsh, but add a nice scent to your bath. I've never gotten a UTI from the bath (but I'm not generally prone to them) - I *am* prone to yeast infections, but I also have never gotten one of those from a bath.

Hi J.,

I actually just dump some Target lavendar body wash into my son's bath. It makes enough bubbles, it smells good, it's calming/soothing, it doesn't irritate his skin, and it's cheap!! I have also used their mentholated vapor bath for when he has a cold and it is nice also!

Blessings,
H.

Hi J.,

any form of irritation, whether it be bubble bath, bar soap, friction, can start the symptoms of a UTI. These are not viruses, but bacteria being introduced into the urethra. Otherwise, antibiotics would not help us get rid of them.

My doc once told me that the act of peeing in the water, is enough to give a child a UTI when taking a bubble bath. you open the doorway and bacteria, be it from your body, existing already on the tub surface (I know i don't disinfect my tub before each bath...) can enter and start the vicious circle. Also irritants play a big role as well. try to make sure your 3 yr old doesn't pee in the water, and to make sure she pee's after the bath... this will help flush out bacteria and irritants before they can take hold and cause infection.

I would choose a known mild bubble bath... up until about age 5 (at that point, baths were OUT, and showers were in) I have always used baby bath... it doesn't hold it's bubble factor very long, compared to bubble baths, but i have found that by the time it loses it's bubbles, it's time to get out anyway. After all, long soaks aren't good for the skin. I always followed up with an Aveeno lotion massage. Oh, and I know this sounds elementary, but make sure you rinse the bath water off with clean water before pulling them out, or all that stuff will just sit on their skin and further irritate.

As for you, I second the bath salts... it's not bubbles, but it is very relaxing, soothing for the skin and I have never had any signs of UTI since switching to them.

Good luck!

~J.~

Hi J.,
I use a "green" line of products that also includes bath and body products for adults and children that are phenomenal. I shop from them constantly, and can show you how to buy at the same wholesale price that I do . They make about 350plus products that are as close to all natural as you can get. They also have many patented products as well. None of which are available in stores.
