Best Baby Lotions and Baby Wash

I had a similar problem with my son. We were told that he had excema at birth. His skin was very bumpy and not pleasant to look at. We did the Johnson's baby wash and lotion, color and fragrance free products, organic products, eliminated foods from his diet, aveeno,eucerine, aquaphor, gold bond, you name it we tried it. He even used topical steroids at one point. At one doctor's visit when his regular pediatrician was out, the covering doctor told us to use Vaseline, not the lotion but the thick vaseline petroleum jelly. He was very greasy but it worked. As he has gotten older his skin has impoved, but we still use the vaseline in the winter after baths. I hope it works for you. Good luck with the adoption

My son has eczema and sensitive skin and I have been told to use Lubriderm, Keri or Cetaphil lotion and Dove soap (unscented). If he has flares up, I use Aveeno Oatmeal bath and it seems to help a little bit.

The California Baby products are really good; a little pricey, but excellent. My son has very sensitive skin (prone to rashes and eczema), and he has no problem at all with their stuff. You can get it online, but they also sell it at Whole Foods and Bye Bye Baby, as well as other places.

Aveeno !! It's all I use on my daughter, who has sensitive skin. I put Burt's Bees on her once, and she broke out in a major rash.

PlEASE Try Weleda Calendula Ointment (in the Homeopathic medicines Division - in the immediate and begin to use the Weleda Baby products - Calendula based ... especially the soap, baby cream, lotion and diaper cream.

I grew up on these products (since birth) and have also used them A LOT with the many mothers I now work with (over 200 per year for a perinatal agency) ... about 150 a year for a Holistic Physician I work with (Whole Foods Nutrition and lifestyle change) and as an educator and herbalist with several Midwives ...

Sounds like Excema ... so increasing the OMEGA 3' oils in hi sdiet would be helpful for sure.
I would also get rid of soy (unless it is a femented soy food like tempeh or miso) ...

First of all D., I think that you are an amazing woman, fostering this adorable little boy who needs a home. I wish you all the luck and love in the world and hope that the adoption does become final because it's obvious that you love and care for him just as much as if he were your own son!

OK - on to the skin - I have eczema, and I'm not sure if the doctor said anything about it, but it sounds like that's what it is on your little guy. As a child, I was always itching and had tons of bumps all over my skin. I would suggest using the most mild stuff you can find - California Baby is a brand that only uses natural ingredients, and not only is it the most non-irritating stuff I've found, it's also all chemical free stuff. Johnson's has a ton of chemicals that I was not aware of before I started in on some research about it all.

The bumps, as long as he is not itching and upset, are probably just his skin type for now. I mean I wouldn't worry about it too too much. I use a lotion that has lactic acid in it called AMLactin and you can get it at the drugstore, but I wouldn't recommend it for babies... Ask the pediatrician about it. Maybe it is safe. It's very strong, though.

I agree on aveeno fragrance free. Also, Fragrance free laundry detergent.

My son has eczema and i use Aveno for Babies unscented soothing creamy baby wash and my son's skin has cleared up. Maybe you can use that. It is hypoallegenic. You also don't really have to use lotion with it because it really moisturizes the baby's skin. If you feel you have to use lotion you can also use the Aveno baby lotion it is also good.

I like both Aquaphor (cream) and Aquaphor Gentle Wash for dry sensitive skin by Eucerin as well as Eucerin Original Moisturizing Cream. The latter is thicker so use sparingly. One of my twins had eczema when he was an infant and this really helped. Good luck with the adoption!!!!! I.

Johnsons made my daughter break out. We switched to Cetaphil soap (the liquid kind), California Baby shampoo (non-scented) and aveeno lotion and had no problems since. The cetaphil seems to help when she gets rashes from other things too.
