Balboa Nursing Pillow Vs. My Brest Friend Nursing Pillow

I cannot decide on a nursing pillow. I have narrowed it down to either the balboa or the brest friend. The balboa looks great in that it has no straps or anything to wrap around you and it is very thick in order to boost baby up to the desired nursing position. But, everyone rants and raves about the brest friend. Any of you ever used the balboa and love/hate it?

I have never used the Balboa. I had a boppy pillow and a breast friend. The funny thing is I wanted the boppy so bad, ended up hating it. I thought the breast friend was going to be soooo uncomfortable, and I LOVED it!!
I had multiple problems with breastfeeding. I never was able to get my supply up, but I spent a lot, and I mean A LOT of time trying, and the breast friend was the most comfortable for me. I tried regular pillows too, still wasn't as comfortable as the breast friend.

The My Brest Friend Nursing Pillow straps around your back so that it does not slide out of your lap. I also liked mine because I could have my baby laying on it nursing and I could grab hold of the outer side and get up to do something simple if necessary since it was strapped around my back. I had a boppy as well and hated it. I used just a regular pillow with my oldest and was always struggling to keep it from sliding out of my lap.

I prefer the viva pillow. It has straps, but they are easy to use. And it's really adjustable, stays put, and boosts the newborn baby up high enough to make nursing more comfortable.

in addition to the comfort....as an aside, i like that the brest friend has a strap. it keeps the pillow in place. sounds funny, but sometimes i would put on the pillow, and then have to get up to get water or a snack so I wore it around the house for a minute. i did not have to reposition when doing so :) i also like that I could remove the casing and wash it.

Loved my boppy. I asked my mom how did people ever deal with nursing or holding a baby without one? lol

save your money. I have breast fed 2 babies and never needed one. Just use a pillow.

I teach breastfeeding classes and am a peer breastfeeding counselor and I tell every mom the same thing: save your money. A boppy is great to prop your little one in, but when it comes to nursing comfort, nothing beats your regular pillows from the bed. Boppys cannot account for the huge range of body builds, baby sizes and breast sizes, whereas a pillow can be squished or stacked to your need.

Seriously - it is a marketing ploy. Go splurge on a few more pillows for the bed. :)

I loved my boppy. For nursing while walking... a Moby (or similar, baby wrapped on, one breast out, and couldn't even be seen by people because of the wrap) worked best.

I have a boppy, but in the end- I like to just lay on my side in a bed and let the baby nurse. OR I will use a regular pillow on my lap.

I have several Boppys and a My Breast Friend and I definitely prefer the Boppy to the Breast Friend. I think it has a lot to do with body type, but I just never felt like I could walk around with the Breast Friend and have it support the baby. Don't know how the Duggar mom does it! I would go for the Balboa or a Boppy. Good luck!
