And It Begins...

The pregnancy questions... LOL!

When did your morning sickness begin?

I had some for the first few months with my son, but never actually vomited (I avoid it at all cost). I just kept stuffing food in my mouth to stave it off! :-D

I am between 5 and 6 weeks along, and no signs of sickness yet (knock on wood), but I certainly know it can begin at any time!

Just wondering when it started for you, and how long it lasted, or if you were lucky enough not to have morning sickness? Was it different with subsequent pregnancies?

What can I do next?

With my first I lost so much weight because I was so sick the entire 9 months. I was wearing clothes I didn't fit into before I was pregnant at 6 months along!! I was on some serious meds too because everything made me sick. My second pregnancy was not as bad, but again sick the whole time. I didn't lose as much weight and I wasn't on meds, but I tossed my cookies regularly enough. With my 3rd, I only got actually sick twice. Once towards the end and one when they were doing my IV for my c-section.

Let's see - with my first one I was sick the entire pregnancy. It was awful. And, funny, she's the one I gained the most with. I went from 113 pounds to 185 pounds. :) My husband told me I blew up like a wood tick! (daughter)
My second one was the perfect pregnancy. I didn't get sick at all. (son)
And, my third, I was sick for the first couple of months and then it was smooth sailing (daughter)

Currently 33 weeks and no morning sickness for me. There was a week in the 1st tri where I'd feel a smidge nauseous for all of 5 minutes and then it went away. I'd say I was lucky - but part of me wishes I did have some MS just so I didn't eat my way through the 1st tri. Congrats on your pregnancy!!

With baby #1, a boy--never really any morning sickness. One unfortunate incident where the grilled steak was great in theory but was actually inedible to me.
With baby #2, a girl--morning sickness between weeks 5 and 10 or so. I would put a granola bar by the elliptical machine so I could work out without getting sick.
Congratulations again!

Not much with my son. Maybe a few weeks of mild morning sickness.
Totally gone by week 12.
I had more of an aversion to foods that were in large quantities--buffets, giant portions, etc.

I didn't get sick with either of my pregnancies but pungent odors got to me every time! I only threw up once or twice (fresh paint and over used porta pottys) but those smells made me flee whatever scene I was in for sure! Hopefully you'll get lucky!

I have been pregnant twice, with boys both times, and my 24-hour-pregnancy-poisoning sickness lasted from about week six until the day I delivered each time.
Hopefully you can avoid it altogether.
Congrats on the pregnancy!

i had four pregnancies and it was differnt each time!!!

first, almost no sickness, nausea for a few months vomited once.
second, nauseous for four months and vomited often.
third, barely noticed it! threw up a burger i ate in the car, not sure if it was morning sickness or what.
fourth, nauseated for four months, pretty bad, but never threw up.

i would rather throw up than be nauseous that long. at least i would have lost some weight!!

Mine started probably at the 8 week mark. I too was lucky enough to never vomit but I felt sick probably 5 out of the 7 days a week and usually from about 11am till about 9pm and then I would wake up in the middle of the night to tinkle and I would feel like I had to heave but never did
Good Luck and Congrats

(You already know this, BUT, I have to answer) ;)

With my first 2 (pregnant with girls both times) I threw up the entire first trimester. It was AWFUL.

With my son, I wasn't sick at ALL... little did I know, the easy pregnancy would produce a monster ;)

For me it lasted from about 4 weeks to 14 weeks. only actually threw up once and that was because I think I had a stomach bug. just constantly felt like I needed to throw up, but couldn't, which was worse. just went around gagging all the time. . . fun! :) good luck, it'll pass before you know it!!!!

I was sick with both my pregnancies. One was a boy one was a girl. It was different only in that with the 2nd one, I was sicker and less able to "deal" because I couldn't focus only on myself, but needed to take care of my son as well. With the first pregnancy I was still working full time, sitting at a desk. With my second pregnancy I was a SAHM trying to take care of a 2 yr old boy.
My nausea started around 4-6 weeks and initially was just a metallic taste in my mouth when drinking plain water. Eventually, I went on Zofran to be functional. And it lasted the ENTIRE pregnancy, right up until I was in active labor about to leave for the hospital.

Baby #1 - not sick one single day. Baby #2 - same!

I thought I was in the clear with baby #3, too! That is, until week 8 rolled around.

Sorry to burst your bubble - all women are different! Maybe you can avoid it!

I am still SOOO excited for you!! I am pretty sure we are done having babies so I am going to live vicariously through your posts! hehe!

First time, I was feeling fine but all of a sudden gagged and threw up. It was the first week and I suspected I was pg. I was. Went like that all 9 months. Felt fine, and would cough and gag and throw up. Did while I was in labor too. Had a boy.
Second time, Felt sick right from the first week or so, never threw up, except when I got the stomach flu for a few days at about 7 months along. Ran a fever and ached all over and barfed for 2 days, so I knew it wasnt because of the pregnancy. I felt great the morning I went into labor,(all 30 minutes of labor) and knew something was up,,lol Had a girl.
BTW,, how did you tell the brand new hubby about the adventure he is about to experience?
