I'm debating between a Britax Roundabout and a Britax Marathon carseat, and I'm looking for advice. If you had a Roundabout, did you move your child from the roundabout into a booster at 40 lbs? Is it better to keep kids in a regular carseat (like the Marathon) longer? Is the Marathon much more difficult than the Roundabout for travelling (in terms of being bulky to carry, fit on a airplane, into a rental car, etc). I have two girls -- a 2.5 year old and a 6 month old. We have a Roundabout for our 2.5 year old and love it, but I'm not sure whether she'll need a bigger carseat or not. Out infant is outgrowing her infant carseat, so we need to purchase something soon. I'm trying to decide whether to get another Roundabout, or whether to move my toddler into the Marathon and pass the Roundabout on to my infant. Thanks for your help!
Quite honestly, not sure why people would go with the Roundabout instead of the Marathon. MUCH safer to keep your child in a 5 pt harness past 40 lbs then to move them to a booster. If you can get the additional use out of it...then why would you not get it over the Roundabout?
I have both. I bought the Marathon for my first and then the Roundabout for my second. Both my girls are small and at 4-1/2 my oldest outgrew the Marathon and is now in a booster seat and my second daughter was right at the border line for height in the Roundabout at three years, she is now in the Marathon and my one year old son is in the Roundabout. I have never flown with either carseat, but the Marathon is huge. The one time we did fly, I bought a smaller carseat for the plane. If I remember correctly the Marathon does not fit in the plane seats, but you can check with the airlines. I have to say, I love both of the car seats. If your girls are on the bigger side, you might want to get the Marathon.
Hi we bought the Britax Boulevard because it goes up to 65 pounds. The other nice thing is that it has the side impact head protection. just an fyi when we travel and we do a lot withour 2 year old we rent car seats when we rent a car it is so much eaiser.
I loved the Roundabout, but if I had to do it over again I would have paid the extra few bucks and gone with the Marathon. I would have liked to have gotten a little extra time out of a 5 point harness seat instead of moving my daughter to a booster at 40 lbs.
I'd move the baby into the Roundabout (RA) and the toddler into the MA (Marathon)...I've travelled with the MA...it fits fine in an airplane seat/rental cars yes the RA is nice a small for travelling but your older daughter is probably close to outgrowing it by height by now (and it is recommended you keep them in a 5pt harness as long as you can (use of boosters by little ones too early can cause many injuries)...your older daughter will be able to use the MA until she's 5 or 6- my daughter is 43inches/37 pounds and almost 5 and will probably use her MA for another year or so..
