I know I've said it before, but Hanna Andersonn makes very comfortable kids underwear that actually fits correctly. You might try going online with her and letting her pick out a few pair.

Also, if it happens that they are bothering/irritating her, did you perhaps change detergents or begin using other laundry products? I'm super-sensitive to soaps and fabric softeners, etc., so that might be a culprit. I had to rewash all my clothes in just hot water with no soap to get them 'clean'.

This could also just be a phase. I know plenty of very nice adults who cop to going 'Freestyle' under their pants, and there's nothing wrong with them, per se. It's just a preference.

I am learning, though, on this site, that some parents feel Very Strongly about their child wearing underpants. My guess is that if you work with her, this huge opinion of hers might just go away on it's own, esp. if her peers give her their opinions!

My daughter one day fought me to put on her underwear. When I asked her why she didn't want to wear them she said she didn't like them anymore. I immediately took her to a Children’s clothing store and let her pick them out on her own. Never had a problem after that.

My sister had the same problem at one point with her middle child. Refused to wear them and would take them off when my sister wasn’t looking. It infuriated her to no end!

I would try a diff brand of undies, have her help pick them out and keep them simple. It could be the elastic bands ... I have a few that do that and I get rid of them the second it happens.

can you take her to pick out her own underwear. i remember when I was little I had the worst underwear, so uncomfortable and always riding up. Underwear can be uncomfortable, so try to pick out something that she likes and is very comfy. Also, try boy shorts or brief type underwear, she may like them better.

Is there any chance the elastic is too tight? When my girls were little, the elasitc would bother them and make them red right where it hit between their legs. I had to make sure the elastic was not too tight. none of that fancy scalloped elastic that is sometimes on there.

It sounds like a phase to me - my 3.5 year old does this routinely. REfuses to wear underwear or pants. We've spent a lot of time convincing her that it's not sanitary to run around bare-bottomed all the time so after buying new, bigger underwear we are having better luck. But she still doesn't want to wear any pants or leggings. I am hoping she'll be open to shorts/skirts as the weather gets warmer around here.

My son has refused to wear underwear since he was potty trained. He just doesn't like the way it feels....even comfy brands. We gave up that fight - I figure it's not that big of a deal. Hopefully he will start wearing underwear one day - maybe when he gets some peer pressure about it!

I buy Joe Boxer from Sears. They are more expensive, but my kiddo thinks they fit so much better. They don't ride up. They don't have a tight binding leg. And they have really cute and fun pics on them.

My oldest son went through that phase at age 4. It didn't last long. I just let him go without underwear and dressed him in comfy clothes like sweat pants. Now as a teenager he wears boxers so he must like the looser fit. He likes loose fitting pants too (not pants on the ground though!) like athletic pants. Maybe she needs a looser style. I don't think there's anything wrong with her. She might just be a little sensitive about her clothing.

Try the next size up and letting her choose her own style of underwear. My daughters love picking out their own skivvies and always have. Well, except for the two solid years that my middle daughter didn't wear clothes at all (no, really, I can count on two hands how often in two years she had clothes on and those occasions didn't last for long). Make sure that they're a brand that's all cotton and is tagless.
