Dear moms, For the last 3weeks my daughter has started to vomit about once a day and during meals or after drinking milk. When she vomits, its ALOT! I thought she may have a milk allergy but she vomits even if we don't give her milk and give her soy or rice milk instead. Sometimes she doesn't vomit after drinking 5oz of milk either which confuses me. I've been feeding her yogurt smoothies and she doesn't vomit with that. She was breastfed for 7months, Similac until 1yr, and whole milk at 1yr. This vomiting kinda started when she was introduced to whole milk. Has any body experience this with their child? What do you do to make it improve? Any help appreciated in advance.

She is a healthy, happy, petite, energetic, girl.

My baby will be seeing a pediatrician tomorrow, but i just wanted ot see what you mothers had to share.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thanks everyone for sharing. We saw her pediatrician this morning and she suspect it is acid reflux so she prescribed some anacids for a month and hope the stomach lining heals and go back to normal. Yes we thought of milk allergies or feeding her too much (which at times is a contributor), but there seems to be something beyond just that. Hopefully it's the acid reflux and the meds will cure it soon. thanks again!

I bet the milk is a red herring. It is so common for people to blame milk for problems, that it is easy to draw a concusion, but, your evidence suggests thats not he cause.

What happens if you ignore the milk and then look for other causes? My daughter has vomited a few times when she has eaten too quickly or without chewing enough - maybe that is the commonality between all incidences?

Have the doc check her blood sugars just in case.

To see if she does have milk allergies, take her to a NAET person to find out. It's simple, painless, and fast (and not too expensive). Go to NAET.com to find a practitioner near you. Oh, and the best part is, they can get rid of her allergies that easy, too. My kids don't have any allergies anymore and my DH got rid of his life-long allergy to cats. Good luck!

It could have something to do with her gag reflex, My son does this occasionally and i just need to remind him to slow down and chew up his food really good.

I had some of the same problems. I just gave my son less milk and gave him a calcium vitamin. It solves the problem of worrying about whether they are getting enough nutrition/vitamins. Or it could be the whole milk. Maybe try 2%. Good Luck. Vomiting it not fun

She may have acid reflux. My 22 month did this from the time she was born. Yes babies can have acid reflux. Talk to her dr about it to rull out any other medical problems, and if it is acid reflux, ask for a perscription. I know how frusterating this is and the medicine does help. This is something she will outgrow.
The milk mixes with the stomach acid and will cause her to vomit.

This happens to my son too. He is almost three now but it has been going on for a while. And now it happens much less frequently. what I have found with him is that it happens when he eats a lot and drinks a lot of milk at the same time. I think he just gets too full. He also has a very strong gag reflex which can trigger the vomiting. I would definately check with your pediatrician to rule out any problems, but she may just have a smally tummy and when it is too much, it comes out. My son is petite for his age also--but a healty vibrant developmentaly advanced boy. Best of luck to you.

I would suspect it's not the milk. If you had her on a milk-based formula and she was fine, she probably doesn't have a milk intolerance. (Sometimes, however, those with an intolerance do fine with yogurt.)

Is it actual vomiting or spitting up? My little boy was never a spitty baby until he was actively teething. Then he would spit up more frequently. It stopped by the time he started getting molars.
